Beat the heat with a Utah ski resort scenic lift ride
With valley temperatures creeping into triple digits, getting away from the city and heading for the hills is more than appealing. This year, Ski Magazine rated four Utah ski resorts among the top 25 in the nation this year: Snowbasin, Alta, Solitude and Snowbird. While there's no snow on the slopes this time of year, the trails and lifts are still functioning.
Where and when to find Utah's breathtaking wildflowers
Every summer, Utah's mountains shake off their dour white winter clothes and slip into nature's equivalent of a colorful sundress: vivid wildflowers. The same slopes that just months ago hosted skiers and powdery snow transform into stunning wildflower meadows throughout the state. Picture fields of columbine, paintbrush, lupine and yarrow framed by blue skies and alpine peaks (extra points if you break into a "Sound of Music" song when doing so).

Taking the kids: And having some fun in the snow
About this time each year, I can’t wait to get out on a bluebird day and ski down a perfectly groomed trail. But it’s going to be a while. Multiple knee surgeries have kept me off the slopes for more than two years (no, it wasn’t a ski injury!) My physical therapist asked me what goals I have after my most recent surgery this past month, and I said to get back on the slopes later this season. Maybe your kids are begging for a getaway to the snow.
