AI in the family: who does what at home?
Who plans the holidays, the birthdays and the dentist appointments in your household? Care and housework are still unevenly shared at home, and the mental load often stays invisible. AI threatens to make this worse: algorithms learn from how things have always been done and divide up the housework before we even notice. On 2 November, we’re launching Just Family at Pakhuis de Zwijger.
Coping with Midterm Stress — The Meridian
By Iffath Liaquat It’s that time of year again. When students are scrambling to build up stamina to seize the midterm testing season. The fall semester is more than halfway over, the Lehman community is feeling the pressure of being piled with exams, projects, and papers in order to test their knowledge. Maii is a sophomore and intends to major in speech pathology.
Don’t just say yes to a Headless CMS
Asking the right (and hard) questions before buying into shiny new technology. Photo by Tim Gouw on Unsplash I’m writing this for product managers, designers, or indeed anyone who is involved in solving product and design problems that include content. If it hasn’t happened already, there is a good chance you’ll see ‘Headless CMS Review’ on your 2020 roadmap. It’s all the rage. Perhaps there are plans already in place, and a vendor waiting in the Board room.
My International Banking Nightmare
The first year I lived in South Korea, I was impressed with their banking system, even though I had limited access to use it. It was clear that even back in 2010, South Korea was pulling ahead of my home country (The United States) in terms of customer service and how easy it was to track, access, transfer, and even spend money. Direct bank transfers were possible between customers of different banks and took only a matter of seconds to go through.
Poll: Some Workers Changing Actions Amid #MeToo
Photo by Tim Gouw on Unsplash One-third of American workers say they've changed how they act at work in the past year. authors Michelle R. Smith, Hannah Fingerhut WASHINGTON (AP) — Barbara Myers started work as an apprentice electrician in 1995, and over the years she learned to shoot back sexual banter on the job site as much as she had to take it from some of her coworkers. Those days, she says, are starting to change.

When a Home Purchase Goes Awry: The Home Buying Problems We Don’t Talk About
Camellia Etherington and her husband, Scott, bought their first home in 2006. A three-bedroom house in Charleston, South Carolina, it seemed like the perfect starter home for their young family. But immediately after closing on the house, which they purchased directly from the sellers, they encountered an unexpected problem. “The previous owners never finished moving out, but they came to the closing and never said a word about it,” Camellia says. “We showed up at the house and it was a mess.
Career Smack Downs: 10 Tips To Discover Your 'Tremor Of Truth' And Persevere And Thrive
Your 'Tremor Of Truth' Will Give You The Resilience To Overcome Career Obstacles Photo By Tim Gouw On Unsplash At this writing, I can bench press 185 pounds. It wasn’t easy to get here. I put everything into it. My personal trainer kept saying, “Let me see your tremor of truth.” Raising an eyebrow at her, I grunted and trembled and sweated before reaching the goal, but I got there.

Minnesota came out ahead of runners-up Massachusetts, North Dakota and the District of Columbia in a combined score that considered categories such as median earnings, unemployment rate, life expectancy at birth and educational achievement.
Four Reasons Why Customer Loyalty Is Shortening
Building high value customer relationships is the primary basis of any healthy organization. During the past five years I have had the opportunity to discuss with many senior leaders what they do to build customer loyalty and many said that it was the hardest thing going on in their company.
BBC - Capital - Dealing with clients who expect you to work for free...

This is the age when people start hating their jobs
This is the age when people start hating their jobs We start getting tired of our jobs at age 35, according to new research. There's a number of factors to blame - the stress that comes with high-ranking jobs, the disappointment that comes with not having achieved what you'd hoped and a desire to look after kids. Human resource firm Robert Half UK surveyed 2,000 people and found that one in six British workers over age 35 said they were unhappy—more than double the number for those under 35.
Kids Told Jimmy Kimmel The Story Of Easter & Their Answers Are Adorable
On Easter Sunday, families across the nation will celebrate the holiday with a bounty of chocolate bunnies and neon-colored peeps stuffed in baskets and will likely set out to hunt for dozens of pastel eggs hidden by the mysterious floppy-eared Easter Bunny. I mean, that’s what I remember most from my childhood, even though there is a lot more to be said about one of the most important days on the Christian calendar.
Italy May Soon Give Women Paid Menstrual Leave, & It's Awesome
Many women know what it's like to try to concentrate on your work when all you want to do is curl up in the fetal position with a heating pad. Trying to type a simple email becomes 10 times harder when you're in pain. But for women in Italy who experience painful periods, a new law could allow them to stay home from work — without worrying about losing money. Italy may be giving women paid menstrual leave, and here's why it's awesome.
