(25 News) – A city official testified in Peoria County Court on Thursday that people have been living inside Riverview Plaza, a downtown high-rise that has been ordered closed since February 2024. The city’s building safety manager, Rich Storm, testified during the June 25 hearing that during a recent inspection he found signs of occupancy inside the shuttered 20-story building, according to the Peoria Journal Star.

Teenager sentenced for 2025 shooting death after vehicle crash in South Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager will spend what is likely the rest of his life in prison for his role in a fatal shooting last year in South Peoria. The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 18-year-old Lamar Cagle was sentenced to 90 years on Friday for the murder of 20-year-old Teron Scott, Jr.  Cagle was convicted of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm in October.

Investigation underway after cab driver robbed in Peoria’s East Bluff

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are looking for who reportedly robbed a cab driver in Peoria’s East Bluff on Thursday night. Police say officers made contact with the 56-year-old male victim in the area of California and Arcadia. The victim stated the passenger asked him to stop, placed an unknown object against his neck, stole the victim’s personal belongings, and fled on foot. The victim was not injured.
