Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes -- as a child before the advent of computer word processors.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Reporting for your entire community for the benefit of the people. Being a light in the darkness, so to speak, to separate fact from fiction.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Generally, through email.
Who do you wish followed you?
I only wished to be followed by the many people I'm reporting for.
Why did you become a journalist?
To help others through reporting.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I incidentally found myself in this field after I left the Air Force. I wanted to get into a job that allowed me to perform a public service.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never compromise with your ideals or your sense of what's right. Following your moral compass is more important than ever in this field.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Out in nature, hiking or taking in the scenery.
