MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. — Northbound Interstate 75 was closed on Friday in Monroe County after a crash near the Sweetwater exit. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at mile marker 63 and involved multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle. According to TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi, a Lifestar helicopter responded to the crash. Few details are available about the crash at the moment.

Knox Co. BOE to discuss new K-8 school design, policy changes

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — The Knox County Board of Education is set to meet next week for its first regular session of 2026. The BOE will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, in its boardroom at 500 West Summit Hill Drive in downtown Knoxville. It will also hold a work session on Monday to go over the agenda and an internal school funds audit. On the agenda for the regular session are proposals for several policy revisions.
