Aridity-driven shifts in plant–microbial diversity relationships across the arid and semi-arid grasslands of northern China
Abstract Climate change-driven aridification threatens above- and belowground biodiversity, yet how the relationships between plant diversity and soil microbial diversity change along aridity gradients remains unclear. Here, we conducted a 4,000-km field survey across arid and semi-arid grasslands in northern China. We show that soil conditions, plant diversity, and microbial diversity exhibit sequential threshold responses along the aridity gradient.
Ophthalmic and psychiatric health: the overlooked connection between ocular diseases and mental disorders
Abstract Ocular diseases and mental disorders represent major global public health challenges. Although prior studies have explored associations between ophthalmic conditions and psychiatric disorders, systematic investigations into their underlying mechanistic connections remain limited. This review synthesizes evidence from high-quality literature to delineate the bidirectional links between ophthalmic and psychiatric health.

Epidemiology and risk factors for corneal blindness in China: a multicentre retrospective study of 15,937 inpatients - Eye
|
Abstract To describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of inpatients with corneal blindness in China and identify independent risk factors. This multicentre, retrospective, observational study was conducted by 16 clinical centres in 15 provincial-level administrative regions across China. Inpatients discharged with a primary diagnosis of corneal disease between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2021, were included.

Frontiers | Research progress on multidimensional intervention strategies for hyperuricemia: Western medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and emerging therapies
1 Overview of hyperuricemia The concentration of uric acid in the blood mainly depends on the balance between the production and excretion of the end-products of purine metabolism. The causes of hyperuricemia mainly include genetic factors, dietary factors, drug effects, and lifestyle (1, 2).
Alpha-synuclein fibril structures cluster into distinct classes
Introduction Many neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease, and Huntington’s disease, are characterized by the misfolding and aggregation of proteins into amyloid fibrils, which deposit into extracellular intraneuronal plaques within the brain (1,2,3).

The continuous evolution of biomolecular force fields
In 1977, McCammon, Gelin, and Karplus performed the first all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of the protein BPTI in vacuo, with a duration of 8.8 ps.1 Since then, significant advancements have been made in MD algorithms, software, and computer hardware, enabling simulations to explore the atomistic details of biomolecular processes on the nano-, micro-, and millisecond timescale.
Study on Robust Path-Tracking Control for an Unmanned Articulated Road Roller Under Low-Adhesion Conditions
1. Introduction UARR plays a vital role in large-scale construction projects such as roadworks, tunnels, and dam engineering, attracting increasing interest from universities, research institutions, and manufacturers worldwide [1,2,3,4,5]. Their articulated structure affords high maneuverability; however, the drum’s substantial mass and smooth steel surface compromise dynamic stability, particularly on uneven or wet, slippery surfaces [6,7,8].
A Symmetry-Inspired Hierarchical Control Strategy for Preventing Rollover in Articulated Rollers
1. Introduction Single-drum articulated rollers are widely used in construction and road maintenance for soil compaction tasks [1]. Advancements in control technology have made URs increasingly indispensable [2,3]. The URs not only enhance operational safety and reduce labor costs but also allow for precise control and data monitoring. In practical applications, the special working environment and vehicle structure of URs as illustrated in Figure 1 make trajectory tracking control difficult.

Studying protein-protein interactions: Latest and most popular approaches
Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are important in a variety of cellular biological processes, such as cellular organization, immunological responses, and signal transduction. While performing their tasks in vivo, proteins typically do not behave much like isolated species. There is an estimated range of 130,000–650,000 different types of PPIs found in humans (Shin et al., 2020).

“Cell Disk” DNA Storage System Capable of Random Reading and Rewriting
1 Introduction DNA provides an attractive medium for dense and long-lasting data storage, which is desperately needed due to explosive data growth.[1] A routine DNA data storage system performs four main steps: digital data are encoded into a series of synthetic DNA sequences, stored in vitro or in vivo as a pool, that are read by DNA sequencing and decoded back into digital information (Figure 1a).

The Role of Cholesterol during the Ovarian Maturation and Lipid Metabolism of Female Chinese Mitten Crab (Eriocheir sinensis)
In previous study, we found that the cholesterol requirement of Eriocheir sinensis was 0.27%, to further investigate the effects of cholesterol on health status, ovarian maturation, and lipid metabolism of female Eriocheir sinensis broodstock. Two diets containing 0% and 0.25% (actually 0.05% and 0.27%) cholesterol were fed to the female crabs (average weight: 49.21 ± 0.11 g) for 4 months and sampled once a month.

Roles of key residues and lipid dynamics reveal pHLIP-membrane interactions at intermediate pH
Abstract The pH-low insertion peptide (pHLIP) and its analogs sense the microenvironmental pH variations in tumorous cells and serve as useful anticancer drug deliveries. The pHLIP binds peripherally to membranes and adopts random coil conformation at the physiological pH.
