Oshkosh police seek man after shot reportedly fired into air
OSHKOSH (WLUK) -- Police are looking for a man after a gun was reportedly fired into the air. The Oshkosh Police Department says just after 1:45 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to the 1200 block of Titan Court. No one was injured by the reported gunfire. Police say they want to speak with Jay'vion Stark, 18. He has a felony warrant through probation and parole officers. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Green Bay police are looking for a missing woman. Police say Dejajenae "Deja" M. Morrison, 30, last had contact with family around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. Her mother said she contacted her asking for $80 to pay someone back. Morrison's mother reported hearing a male's voice in the background saying Deja actually owed him $380 and said she was not going to leave until she paid him back.
Wisconsin Republican representatives demand EPA action over wildfire smoke
(WLUK) -- The six Republican members of Wisconsin's House delegation -- including both of Northeast Wisconsin's representatives -- are asking the Environmental Protection Agency to address wildfire smoke coming from Canada. The smoke drifting over Wisconsin has led to air quality advisories for the past three days. The air on Thursday reached the unhealthy category, closing swimming pools and amusement parks, driving people to cancel outdoor plans and seek indoor activities.
Construction to affect marine traffic under Nitschke Bridge in Green Bay
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Construction activities will impact boaters who need the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge lifted. Green Bay public works officials say, starting Monday and lasting through Oct. 31, there will be 50-by-40-foot barges staged under the fixed spans. The barges will be in place from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The barges are not expected to impact traffic in the main navigational channel of the Fox River, and construction is not expected to impact the ability to operate the bridge.
Brewers' 2027 schedule includes earliest opening day in team history
MILWAUKEE (WLUK) -- The Milwaukee Brewers will begin the 2027 season with the earliest opening day in franchise history. The March 25, 2027, game against the Los Angeles Angels at American Family Field beats by one day this season's opener, which is the current record. The Angels are a familiar season-opening opponent for the Brewers. The first game in franchise history -- in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots -- came in Anaheim, California, against the Angels.
Disaster Recovery Center opening to help flood victims receive FEMA aid
NEW LONDON (WLUK) -- Those affected by the April flooding in Waupaca, Outagamie and Winnebago counties can learn more about how to receive aid at a center opening Monday in New London. The counties' emergency management departments, along with Wisconsin Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, are hosting the disaster recovery center at the New London Public Museum, 406 S.
DNR makes 25 arrests during Operation Dry Water
(WLUK) -- Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens arrested 25 people suspected of drunken boating during a Fourth of July Weekend crackdown. The DNR said this year's Operation Dry Water also resulted in nearly 900 warnings and more than 200 tickets to boaters for safety violations. Warden Tim Price was credited with saving a woman's life on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes the night of July 4 when he saw that she had fallen out of a boat and was sinking.
HSHS opens new rehabilitation hospital in Howard
HOWARD (WLUK) -- A new health facility is opening just west of Green Bay. Hospital Sisters Health System and Lifepoint Rehabilitation are holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for a new rehabilitation hospital. The facility is located on Taylor Street, just east of the Meijer store. HSHS says the 40-bed facility will expand access to specialized rehabilitation care for patients from all over Northeast Wisconsin.
Country singer/songwriter Larry Fleet to play Meyer Theatre
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Country singer/songwriter Larry Fleet is bringing his sounds to the Meyer Theatre. Fleet has a platinum record to his credit, having co-written Morgan Wallen and Eric Church's No. 1 single, "Man Made a Bar." Fleet has released a new self-produced album, "Another Year Older." He lists Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye as inspirations, as well as his upbringing on faith, family and working hard. Tickets for the Nov.
Door County Land Trust adds 4.2 acres for protection
TOWN OF EGG HARBOR (WLUK) -- A plot of land in the town of Egg Harbor is now protected in memory of a couple who spent decades enjoying the area. The Door County Land Trust says 4.2 acres near Bluff Ledge Road was donated by Elizabeth Gauger, who inherited the property from her parents, Donald and Susan. "I always saw Door County as 'home' and the woods as my church," Elizabeth Gauger said in a news release.
Report: Brewers acquire P Lance McCullers Jr. from Astros
(WLUK) -- A former World Series champion is coming to the Milwaukee Brewers, according to a report. MLB.com reports the Brewers are acquiring right-handed pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and left-hander Colton Gordon from the Houston Astros. It was not known what the Brewers were sending in return. McCullers has a 6.86 ERA in 39 1/3 innings across eight starts for the Astros this year. He is in the final year of a five-year, $85 million contract.

Port Green Bay unveils new branding
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Northeast Wisconsin's shipping port unveiled a shorter name and new logo on Tuesday. The Port of Green Bay has rebranded itself as Port Green Bay. Port officials also released a new blue and green logo. It features a head-on view of a ship on waves, surrounded by a circle representing the Leo Frigo Bridge.
Packers teaming up with Thrivent
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Thrivent is now the official financial services partner of the Green Bay Packers. The team called a news conference Monday morning to release more details of the partnership with Thrivent. The financial services company is based in Minneapolis and has significant operations in Appleton. Thrivent will also sponsor the My Cause My Cleats program, an initiative where players, coaches and staff wear custom-designed cleats to spotlight the causes and nonprofits they care.
Brewers to host fundraiser for Venezuela earthquake victims
MILWAUKEE (WLUK) -- Milwaukee Brewers fans will have a chance to help victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela at a game later this month. The Brewers are hosting Unidos por Venezuela ("United for Venezuela") night during the against the New York Mets. The event builds on efforts by players William Contreras and Jackson Chourio, who partnered with Forward Latino to send relief to their home country.
Green Bay Water Utility says some customers' bills were exposed on website
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Water customers in four communities were able to view other customers' bills online, the Green Bay Water Utility says. Water utility officials say a customer contacted them Wednesday to report being able to see another customer's bill by entering their last name. Online payments are processed through a third-party vendor called Invoice Cloud.
Badgers to don cardinal and silver at the home of the green and gold
(WLUK) -- The Wisconsin Badgers will be paying tribute to the Green Bay Packers' championship tradition when they play at Lambeau Field. The team unveiled a new alternate uniform for the Sept. 6 game against Notre Dame. The helmets, jerseys and pants are all red, but with silver logos, numbers and letters as a nod to the four Vince Lombardi Trophies the Packers have won. Stripes on the sleeves mimic the Packers' sleeve stripe pattern.

(WLUK) -- Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley is dropping out of the governor's race. The Democrat announced Wednesday that he is ending his campaign. 2 Northeast Wisconsin routes listed in survey of top in-state summer road trips

Collins Marsh drawn down for habitat improvement, dam gate replacement
MANITOWOC COUNTY (WLUK) -- Collins Marsh has been drawn down in an effort to improve habitat for wildlife. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says it drained the main body of water by opening the gates at the dam on Mud Creek. Water levels are drained periodically to mimic the natural ebb and flow in an unrestricted system, the DNR says. This allows seeds at the marsh's bottom to be exposed to sunlight so they can germinate and grow, with the plants becoming a food source for birds.

Wisconsin hires Eichorst as athletic director
MADISON (WLUK) -- A Wisconsin native and veteran college sports administrator will be the next person to oversee Wisconsin Badgers athletics. Shawn Eichorst has been named athletic director, interim University of Wisconsin-Madison chancellor Eric Wilcots announced Wednesday. Since 2018, Eichorst has been deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at Texas. Before that, he was athletic director at Nebraska and Miami (Florida).
Carbliss to take over former Kmart property in Plymouth
PLYMOUTH (WLUK) -- A long-vacant Lakeshore property is soon to be the home of a growing Wisconsin company. Carbliss announced Tuesday its purchase of the former Kmart property, 2615 Eastern Ave., in Plymouth. Plans call for the 90,000-square-foot building to be converted into the corporate headquarters and a public destination. "This project represents much more than a new headquarters," Carbliss co-founder Adam Kroener said in a news release.

MADISON (WLUK) -- A well-known Wisconsin restaurant will sponsor patches on Wisconsin Badgers uniforms. The blue logo of Culver's is being added to the cardinal and white jerseys of Wisconsin's football, men's basketball and men's hockey uniforms. LAKE MATTOON, Ill. (WLUK) -- Illinois authorities are looking for information after the remains of a man with a Green Bay Packers tattoo were found in a lake. Illinois State Police say on Sunday, boaters discovered part of a human arm in Lake Mattoon, in the central part of the state. Distinct tattoos include a Packers helmet. Investigators shared photos of the tattoos. Anyone with information is asked to contact ISP Zone 8 Investigations at ISP.Zone8commander@illinois.gov or by calling 618-542-2400.

A tale of two fruits: Hot, humid weather in the forecast good for one, not the other
(WLUK) -- The weather's going to take a turn for the hot and humid, and that's good news for one fruit crop, and bad news for lovers of a different small, red treat. Blaser's Acres of Suamico says it's been a successful strawberry season so far, but hot, humid weather will likely bring the season to an early end. It's likely any remaining fruit will rot in the fields, and the season stands to end before the Fourth of July.
West-side Green Bay fire station closed after flooding
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A fire station on Green Bay's west side is closed after heavy rains flooded the building on Wednesday night. City officials say the basement of Fire Station 3, 885 Shawano Ave., filled with floodwater and portions of the first floor were also damaged. As a precaution, electrical service was disconnected and the station's personnel and apparatus were assigned to other stations. Meanwhile, remediation and restoration efforts continue.
Call line set up for storm damage in Brown County
BROWN COUNTY (WLUK) -- A call line has been set up for those in Brown County to report damage and additional needs after Wednesday's storms. County officials say the public can call 2-1-1 at any time 24/7. United Way volunteers who support this type of needs assessment staff the line. County officials recommend those with damage to document it and take pictures to help with insurance needs. Most homeowner's insurance policies do not usually cover flooding.
Bat in Shawano County confirmed to have rabies
SHAWANO COUNTY (WLUK) -- The discovery of a rabid bat in Shawano County is prompting health officials to remind people to protect themselves and pets against the disease. Rabies is transmitted through exposure to an infected animal. It is usually transmitted through a bite, but can be transmitted through a scratch or if the animal's saliva is exposed to broken skin.
Safe Haven posts photo from inside building where roof collapsed
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A pet shelter that had its roof cave in during Wednesday night's torrential downpours is showing what the inside of its building looks like. Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary posted the photo on its Facebook page Thursday afternoon. Dozens of cats were removed from the building after the roof collapsed. The shelter said earlier Thursday that one of the 45 cats remained missing. With its building condemned, Safe Haven is raising funds for a new building.

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A former Green Bay Packers player was among those caught up in flash flooding on Wednesday night. A.J. Dillon posted on the social media platform X that he went out to pick up some fish fry and "walked out to a flood warning." He posted a photo and two videos of the flooding and hail. The photo was taken on Lombardi Avenue, where many vehicles became stranded. The west side of Green Bay and Ashwaubenon were among the areas hardest hit by the torrential rain.
Octoberfest adds country stage for 2026; see the full lineup
APPLETON (WLUK) -- Octoberfest is adding a country music stage to this year's festival. Organizers of the annual party in downtown Appleton announced the entertainment lineup for the 2026 event on Tuesday. It consists of five stages, each presenting a different genre of music. "Every year, we strive to improve the festival for our more than 300,000 event attendees," explained Paul Schrode, chairman of the Chamber's Octoberfest Committee.

Wied takes aim at lab-created butter with new bill
GREENLEAF (WLUK) -- A Northeast Wisconsin congressman wants to make sure you know if the butter you're buying was made in a lab. U.S. Rep. Tony Wied's new bill is called the Recognizing Engineered Alternatives as Lab-Created, or REAL Butter Act. It would require lab-produced butter to be labeled on grocery shelves. Text of the REAL Butter Act It comes after Savor, a company Bill Gates funds, announced a method for making butter from carbon dioxide instead of milk.
Brewers' Turang just outside of top 2 NL second basemen in all-star voting
MILWAUKEE (WLUK) -- Milwaukee Brewers players will need a late push to have a chance to be voted as all-star starters. With the first phase of voting closing at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday, Brice Turang is the Brewer closest to advancing to the second phase of voting. As of Monday afternoon's update, Turang was in third place among National League second basemen, 61,895 behind the Philadelphia Phillies' Bryson Stott. Voting is available on the Brewers' website.
