A synaptic mitochondrion–ribbon–vesicle complex organizes photoreceptor neurotransmission
Abstract Photoreceptor synapses rely on mitochondria, synaptic ribbons, and vesicles, yet how these elements integrate into functional units remains unclear. Here we show, using focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy (FIB-SEM) and electrophysiology, that they form synaptic mitochondrion–ribbon–vesicle complexes (sMRVcs) with fundamentally different architectures in rods and cones.

Prenatal dexamethasone exposure disrupts offspring hippocampal neurogenesis and triggers depression-like behaviors via epigenetic regulation
Abstract Prenatal glucocorticoid therapy is commonly used to manage preterm fetal delivery risks; however, such exposure elevates the risk of adult psychiatric disorders, though the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. The present study utilized a mouse model exposed to dexamethasone (DEX, a synthetic glucocorticoid) during late pregnancy (GD14.5-GD20.5).
IKBKE-YAP axis-mediated reciprocal inhibition between Hippo and NF-κB pathways complementarily drives liver tumorigenesis
Abstract Inactivation of the Hippo signaling pathway critically contributes to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumorigenesis. However, directly targeting YAP, the key downstream effector of this pathway, has yielded limited clinical benefit in HCC. Here, we report that, in response to inflammatory stimuli, besides promoting inflammation, IKBKE inactivates YAP in liver cancer cells through direct interaction.

Revisiting feeling rules: how emotional labour fosters emotional capital among hospitality and tourism interns in Macao
ABSTRACT While emotional labour is well-established in hospitality research, existing scholarship predominantly focuses on established employees, largely overlooking how organisational novices navigate professional socialisation. Specifically, how liminal cohorts like interns manipulate organisational feeling rules to convert emotional labour into emotional capital remains underexplored.

Collaborative training in distributed semantic communication (DSC) networks typically relies on decentralized federated learning (DFL). However, pushing topology-agnostic aggregation into heterogeneous, multi-task environments creates a fundamental bottleneck: it drives negative transfer and overconsensus bias (OCB). This paper introduces a personalized DSC framework that cuts off this cross-task interference.

Schrödinger cat states of a nuclear spin qudit in silicon - Nature Physics
Abstract High-dimensional quantum systems are a valuable resource for quantum information processing. They can be used to encode error-correctable logical qubits, which has been demonstrated using continuous-variable states in microwave cavities or the motional modes of trapped ions. For example, high-dimensional systems can be used to realize ‘Schrödinger cat’ states, which are superpositions of widely displaced coherent states that can be used to illustrate quantum effects at large scales.
