Cell atlas of the developing human meninges reveals a dura-like nature of meningiomas
Abstract The vertebrate central nervous system is enveloped by the meninges, consisting of the pia, arachnoid and dura layers. The arachnoid is hypothesized to give rise to the most common primary intracranial tumours, meningiomas. However, supporting molecular evidence is lacking. There are no effective medical therapies to treat meningiomas that are resistant to local interventions, encumbered by our limited understanding of their cellular origin.
Atlas of cell types and regulatory elements underlying human facial diversity
|
Abstract Human genetic diversity generates an astonishing variety of facial shapes, and craniofacial anomalies rank among the most common birth defects. Identifying the cellular mechanisms that mediate the genome’s influence on facial variation remains a challenge. Here we created a multimodal facial atlas across embryonic weeks 6–11, providing single-cell transcriptomics, chromatin accessibility and spatial transcriptomics, all at single-cell resolution.

Case Report: Sequential mNGS captures fatal HSV-1 reactivation after intestinal obstruction-associated ARDS in a 91-year-old
Abstract Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is a ubiquitous pathogen. Nevertheless, disseminated HSV-1 infection with confirmed viremia and fatal acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) following intestinal obstruction in very old individuals is exceedingly rare. Here we report a 91-year-old patient with previously intact immunity who developed ARDS after incomplete intestinal obstruction, followed by HSV-1 reactivation.
The Barthel Index in Predicting Response to Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Heart Failure
1 Introduction As a classic cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) strategy, biventricular pacing (BiVP) effectively treats heart failure (HF) patients by improving ventricular synchronization to reduce all-cause mortality and HF hospitalization (HFH) [1, 2]. However, 30%−40% of patients are non-responsive to BiVP [3, 4].
Reflection of a spatiotemporal optical vortex from a relativistic flying mirror
In this study, the change in the angular momentum of a spatiotemporal optical vortex beam (STOV) after reflection by a relativistic flying mirror was investigated using theoretical analysis and particle-in-cell simulations. Unlike longitudinal AM in vortex beams, the transverse AM of the reflected STOV beam is amplified, with a dependence on the relativistic factor of the flying mirror. However, the enhancement in the angular momentum diminished as the incident angle increased.

TLCD1 correlates with malignant progression of hepatocellular carcinoma and activation of the ERK signaling cascade
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by high invasiveness and poor prognosis, making the identification of key driver genes crucial for the development of effective treatment strategies. TLCD1 is a member of the TLC domain family, which participates in membrane trafficking and lipid metabolism regulation. While bioinformatics suggests that TLCD1 is abnormally expressed in HCC, experimental evidence for its functions and mechanisms is still lacking.

Real-time spatial color holographic projection using non-iterative phase generation based on a phase light modulator
In real-time holographic displays, hologram computation time directly impacts the refresh rate and latency of the system. Spatial light modulators are used to load holograms and modulate light beam phases. However, existing phase generation methods cannot simultaneously achieve both fast hologram computation and high reconstruction quality of quantized phase holograms.
Infrared cone-shaped spatial target recognition based on an improved MKELM
This paper proposes a novel infrared cone-shaped spatial target recognition method, to the best of our knowledge, based on an improved multiple kernel extreme learning machine (MKELM) for the problem that radiation intensity sequence is the only data type available and is often contaminated by noise at long-range detection. Variational mode decomposition (VMD) and reconstruction are incorporated for radiation intensity sequence.

Generation of transverse light spring
We propose a scheme for generating a new type of spatiotemporally coupled twisted pulse, termed as a transverse light spring (LS). The most prominent feature of these light beams is the helical structure of the intensity contour in the transverse direction. This implies that the transverse light spring beam propagates forward, and the position of the high-intensity bright spot rotates in the transverse direction of its propagation.

CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated disruption of DA1 enhances both biomass yield and quality in poplar
Biofuels have become important renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels in modern days. The non-food woody lignocellulose biomass drawn more attention to produce biofuel since it is not against the world's food security. Among which, poplar serves as an ideal woody biomass because of its fast growth and inherent secondary cell wall characteristics (Cho et al., 2018). Lignocellulose (secondary cell wall) is mainly composed of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose.

Vinculin Y822 phosphorylation regulates cardiomyocyte adhesion dynamics and adherens junction maturation in the heart
Abstract In the heart, cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesions reorganize in response to increased cardiac demand and growth to promote cardiomyocyte maturation. Vinculin, a mechanosensitive adaptor protein, links filamentous actin to cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesions and is thus positioned to regulate adhesion reorganization. However, how the two adhesion systems are coordinated in the heart, and the role of vinculin in this process is poorly understood.
