Multivariate computational strategies for mechanisms involving gut microbiome metabolite targets of Astragalus in diabetic sarcopenic obesity
Abstract Diabetic sarcopenic obesity (SO) is a complex metabolic condition characterized by the coexistence of obesity, diabetes, and sarcopenia, leading to poor prognosis. Astragalus, is a key herb in spleen-strengthening formulas, but its pharmacological mechanisms against diabetic SO remain unclear. Drug- and disease-related genes for Astragalus, obesity, diabetes, and sarcopenia were retrieved from public databases.
Universal CT representations from anatomy to disease phenotype through stage-wise pretraining
Abstract Computed tomography (CT) is central to three-dimensional medical imaging, yet CT-based artificial intelligence remains fragmented across task-specific models for segmentation, classification, registration, and report analysis. Here we present FlexiCT, a family of CT foundation models trained by stage-wise pretraining on 266,227 CT volumes from 56 publicly available datasets, forming a large-scale public resource for CT representation learning.
Distinguishing single-site from single-atom catalysts
Single-atom catalysis has triggered an enormous research boom. However, inconsistent terminology is widely encountered in the literature, particularly for single-atom versus single-site catalysts. By clarifying the origins of these catalysts, and distinguishing their criteria and structural boundaries, this Comment proposes standardized characterization benchmarks and writing norms to unify terminology.
Topology-aware E(3)-equivariant learning for physically consistent piezoelectric tensor prediction
Abstract Accurate prediction of piezoelectric tensors in crystals remains challenging because valid responses must satisfy both continuous geometric symmetries and discrete crystallographic constraints under periodic boundary conditions. Existing learning-based approaches typically emphasize equivariance or periodic geometry, but often do not explicitly incorporate crystal topology with E(3)-equivariant message passing.
Diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma followed by myelodysplastic syndrome with TP53 mutation: a case report and literature review
Abstract Background: Secondary myelodysplastic syndrome (sMDS) is increasing as more individuals survive treatment for a primary cancer diagnosis, which is associated with many factors, such as prior alkylator therapy, topoisomerase II inhibitors and higher-dose pretransplant irradiation, hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and graft purging.
Prevalence, risk factors, and clinical consequence of enteral feeding intolerance in elderly patients with traumatic brain injury: a two-center study
Abstract Enteral nutrition (EN) support is important for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Enteral feeding intolerance (EFI) is common among critically ill patients and may lead to inadequate EN support. Currently, TBI in elderly individuals poses a growing health concern. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and clinical consequences of EFI in elderly patients with TBI. We performed a two-center retrospective analysis.
Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Soil Shear Strength in Gully Erosion at Different Developmental Segments of Subalpine Meadows
1 Introduction Subalpine meadows are important transitional ecosystems between alpine deserts and low-mountain forests. They are mainly distributed in the mountainous regions of western China and the eastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (Cheng et al. 2022; Yin et al. 2024). These meadows regulate surface runoff, conserve water resources, and stabilize slopes, thereby functioning as essential ecological security barriers in alpine regions (Liu et al. 2023).
Grounding Radiology Report Findings into Medical Image Segmentation
Abstract Routine radiology practice documents abnormalities primarily in narrative reports rather than pixel-level annotations. However, many clinically important analyses require spatially localized evidence. This mismatch limits the reuse of large-scale image-report archives for spatially resolved quantitative analysis, as heterogeneous clinical findings cannot be directly translated into consistent spatial representations.
HELZ is a RNA-DNA helicase that resolves R loops to facilitate homologous recombination repair
|
Abstract R loop homeostasis is critical for DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair; however, how R loops are resolved in this context is poorly understood. Here, we define HELZ as a unique RNA-DNA helicase that resolves R loops to facilitate homologous recombination (HR) repair.

A generalist biomedical vision-language model via multi-CLIP knowledge distillation
Abstract Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) models, which are pretrained on natural images with billions of image-text pairs, exhibit strong zero-shot and cross-modal capabilities. However, their application in biomedicine remains challenging due to limited large-scale image-text data and heterogeneous imaging modalities. Here we show that a generalist biomedical foundation model can be effectively built via multimodal medical knowledge distillation.
Empowered pro-inflammatory features in Ly6C monocytes and altered antigen-presenting capacity in Ly6C high monocytes in diabetic mice
Abstract Rationale: Inflammatory monocyte (MC) subset polarization is a hallmark of systemic and tissue inflammatory feature in diabetes. The underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Methods and results: Blood pro-inflammatory Ly6Chigh and anti-inflammatory Ly6Clow MC subsets were isolated from control (C57/BL6), type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mice by flow cytometry sorting and subjected to bulk high-throughput RNA-sequencing.
Inhibition of angiogenesis by propranolol in infantile hemangiomas via lncRNA NEAT1-mediated miR-194-5p/TRAF6/NF-κB pathway
Abstract Existing studies suggest that nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) is involved in the biological behavior of endothelial cells by regulating angiogenesis. Treatment of infantile hemangioma (IH) with propranolol (Pro) has been shown to block nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)-mediated angiogenesis. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.
Imaging interface-controlled bulk oxygen spillover
Abstract As one dynamic aspect of catalysis, spillover is known as species diffusion between an active metal and its support1,2,3, especially in reactions involving hydrogen and oxygen4,5,6,7,8. Spillover confined on the catalyst surface has been investigated extensively9,10; however, it remains unclear whether the bulk catalyst participates in the reactions through non-surface spillover.

Editorial: Exploring lymphatic vasculature's role in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases
The lymphatic vasculature is present in almost every tissue in the body and runs in parallel to the blood vasculature but has distinct structural and functional roles. Whereas blood vasculature is a bidirectional circulatory system, the lymphatic system is a unidirectional circulatory structure that drains lymph fluid away from tissues to return it to the blood circulation.
Systematic transcriptome analysis reveals the function of alternative promoters in hematopoietic lineages
Results Previous studies have mainly focused on the promoters of individual genes (Brunner et al., 2024; Draper et al., 2017; Gomez-del Arco, Kashiwagi et al., 2010; Klein-Hessling et al., 2016; Patta et al., 2020; Robinson et al., 2022), possibly overlooking numerous functional promoters due to the lack of accurate and systemic quantification on their usage.
