Intrinsic physicochemical activity at microplastic–water interfaces
Abstract Plastics have become an integral part of our modern society, largely because they are generally regarded as chemically inert under normal circumstances. However, plastics fragmented into microplastics (less than 5 mm in size) have recently raised significant public concerns, and have been detected widely across ecosystems and human tissues with increasing environmental and health risks1,2,3,4,5.
Phase I/II Study of Bavdegalutamide, a Proteolysis-Targeting Chimera Androgen Receptor Degrader, in Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer.
This phase I/II study (which, to our knowledge, is the first such study in humans) evaluated the safety and efficacy of bavdegalutamide (ARV-110), a proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) androgen receptor (AR) degrader, in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Eligible patients were adult (18 years and older) males with mCRPC previously treated with an AR pathway inhibitor (ARPI).
Fast-charging and durable all-solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries enabled by pre-embedded solid-solid redox mediator
|
Abstract All-solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries promise high specific energy and low cost. However, they are challenged by poor rate capability and cycling stability owing to the slow solid-solid sulfur redox reactions. Here, we present fast-charging and durable all-solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries enabled by a pre-embedded solid-solid redox mediator using an amorphous sulfur/iodine nano-eutectic positive electrode.

Chromosome-scale genomes and population resequencing resolve subgenome diversity and halophyte adaptation in Salicornia
|
Abstract Amid escalating water scarcity and groundwater depletion, halophytes such as Salicornia (Amaranthaceae) represent valuable models for extreme salt tolerance and hold promise for saltwater-based agriculture. Here, we show chromosome-scale genome assemblies for six Salicornia species, revealing four distinct subgenomes, reconciling our assemblies with two existing reference genomes (S. ramosissima UK and S. europaea China), correcting chromosome numbering and orientation.

Clinical translation of senescence-related pan-cancer multi-omics: tools for assessment and immunotherapy prediction
Abstract Cellular senescence (CS) exerts dual roles in tumorigenesis, yet its pan-cancer molecular characteristics and clinical value remain unclear, hindering its translation to oncology and personalized therapy.
The proportional scaling of mRNA and ribosome concentrations controls eukaryotic cell growth
Abstract Cell growth underlies nearly all eukaryotic physiology, yet its quantitative principles remain unclear. Here, using single-molecule ribosome tracking, spike-in RNA sequencing and quantitative proteomics across 15 nutrient-limited conditions in budding yeast, we define how growth is controlled in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Ribosome concentration scales linearly with growth rate, while peptide elongation speed remains constant at approximately nine amino acids per second.
A path fitting accuracy improvement and evaluation method based on minimum toll and multi-dimensional anomaly detection engine
Abstract Missing or abnormal gantry data in expressway network tolling leads to inaccurate path fitting and to the “same road, different tolls” phenomenon. Motivated by this limitation, this paper introduces a two-stage path fitting framework.
Mechanistic machine learning for prediction of prime editing outcomes
|
Abstract Prime editing (PE) can make specific local changes to genomic DNA in living systems but its efficient application currently requires extensive optimization of PE guide RNA (pegRNA) sequences. Here we present OptiPrime, a machine learning model of PE efficiency based on current understanding of PE mechanisms. OptiPrime achieves state-of-the-art accuracy on PE efficiency prediction and enables prediction of nicking guide RNA (PE3) and dual pegRNA (twinPE) outcomes.

Maximizing multiplexing in 1–100 MHz frequency domain readout of transition edge sensor arrays via crosstalk suppression
Abstract The 1–100 MHz frequency band remains relatively unexplored for Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM) readout of Transition Edge Sensor (TES) arrays, despite its potential to increase channel counts beyond the traditionally used 1–5 MHz range. This gap, however, is becoming increasingly addressable with advancements in the fabrication of high-resonance-frequency LC resonators and wide-band Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs).
Unify learns cellular evolution with universal multimodal embeddings
Abstract Integrating single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data across species is hindered by evolutionary divergence, technical batch effects, and the reliance on one-to-one orthologs. Here, we present Unify, a transfer learning methodology that learns universal cell embeddings by defining functionally coherent, multi-modal macrogenes. This is achieved by combining RNA expression with embeddings from protein language models and general-purpose language models.
HcEcR Regulates Chitin Biosynthesis via 20E Signaling Rather Than Direct Transcriptional Activation in Hyphantria cunea Larvae
1 Introduction EcR (ecdysone receptor) is a crucial member of the heterodimeric EcR-USP (ultraspiracle) ecdysone receptor (Hill et al. 2013; Riddiford et al. 2000). As the key nuclear receptor of steroid hormone ecdysone (20-hydroxyecdysone, 20E), EcR plays a central role in 20E signaling cascade, mediating diverse physiological processes, most notably molting and metamorphosis, throughout insect growth and development (Riddiford et al. 2003; Yao et al. 1993). Since Koelle et al.
Intermetallic Pt 3 In concave tetrahedra for oxygen reduction electrocatalysis in proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Abstract Scaling proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) demands efficient and durable electrocatalysts for the cathodic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Concave surfaces and intermetallic phases have been proven to promote the activity and stability of Pt-based catalysts, yet integrating these two structural features in one catalyst remains challenging.
A Multisensor Fusion-based High-Quality Depth Estimation Dataset for Dynamic Coal Flow
Abstract Depth estimation has become a key technology for improving efficiency in industrial applications such as intelligent sorting and robotic grasping. Limited installation space, stringent safety requirements, and the dynamic nature of observed objects restrict the application of spatial information sensors in industrial environments.
Digital enabler or carbon culprit? The U-shaped trajectory of digital innovation on carbon emissions
While digital innovation (DI) is viewed as a key driver of industrial decarbonization, its environmental impact remains contested. The growing energy demand may induce Jevons-type rebound effects, challenging the sustainability of digital transition. Moving beyond linear and static perspectives, this study integrates dynamic capability theory with the technique-composition-scale framework to examine the nonlinear relationship between DI and carbon emissions (CE).
Dynamic processes of modern desert contraction: a case study of Buguli and Toklak deserts on the southwestern margin of the Tarim Basin, China
ABSTRACT Accurate delineation of desert boundaries and characterization of their spatiotemporal dynamics are essential for understanding desertification processes and evaluating ecological restoration in arid regions. However, conventional large-scale assessments often fail to capture fine-scale boundary dynamics and transitional uncertainties.

Target-driven machine learning–enabled virtual screening (TAME-VS) enables prioritization of AKR1C3 inhibitors
Abstract Machine learning–guided virtual screening has the potential to accelerate early-stage drug discovery, but its practical utility is often limited by uncertain generalization to different chemical scaffolds and by insufficient prospective evaluation under realistic experimental constraints. To address these challenges, we conduct a target-driven virtual screening study using TAME-VS against aldo–keto reductase 1C3 (AKR1C3), an enzyme implicated in cancer progression and chemoresistance.

Astragaloside IV Ameliorates Acetaminophen-Induced Liver Injury via Targeting the PCK1/PPARG/RXRA-Mediated PPAR Signaling Pathway
1 Introduction Acetaminophen (APAP), a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting prostaglandin E synthesis and release, thereby inducing peripheral vasodilation and antipyresis [1]. However, its ubiquitous presence in over-the-counter medications increases the risk of accidental overdoses. A daily intake > 4 g may induce acute liver injury, with higher doses potentially leading to acute liver failure or even mortality [2].

Can China’s Great Green Wall shape efforts to keep the world’s deserts at bay?
About 40% of the world’s land surface is classed as drylands1 — deserts and water-scarce grasslands, shrublands and savannahs. Life can be tough for the more than two billion people that live there. In Chinguetti, Mauritania, Saharan dunes push into streets and courtyards, burying homes and forcing residents to move to other towns. In Mongolia, a lack of rainfall is placing immense pressure on herders and ecosystems, and sending dust and sandstorms across the border into China and South Korea2.
In vivo base editing rescues liver pathophysiology and peroxisome dysfunction in a mouse model of Zellweger spectrum disorder
|
Abstract Zellweger spectrum disorder (ZSD) is caused by biallelic loss-of-function variants in PEX genes required for peroxisome biogenesis, which is critical for normal cellular metabolism and signalling. The PEX1-p.G843D (c.2528G>A) allele, present in approximately 30% of individuals with ZSD, frequently results in chronic liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and degraded neurological health.
