OXCT1-mediated succinylation of SLC25A11 protects against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting ferroptosis
Abstract Protein succinylation is increasingly recognized for its pivotal role in cardiovascular pathophysiology, yet the specific function of succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid CoA transferase 1 (OXCT1) in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remains to be fully elucidated. In this study, we identify OXCT1 as a critical anti-ferroptotic regulator that protects the myocardium against I/R-induced damage.

Alpha-linolenic acid in cancer: a predictive fate-switch framework for tumor lipid reprogramming
Abstract Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is the major plant-derived omega-3 fatty acid in human diets, yet its relevance to cancer is often narrowly interpreted as a precursor to eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. Here we propose a predictive fate-switch framework that treats ALA as a dietary lipid input whose biological output is dictated by tumor-intrinsic routing after uptake.

Evolution of a ZW sex determination system in sticklebacks
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract The stickleback system offers a powerful model for investigating the evolutionary dynamics of sex chromosome differentiation. Although a ZW sex determination mechanism has previously been reported in sticklebacks, its origin and evolutionary history remain poorly resolved.
Agricultural crop trade alleviates China’s water shortage but redistributes water value unevenly
Abstract China’s limited freshwater endowment tightly links water security to domestic and international crop trade. Here we develop a high‑resolution framework that couples a 1‑km grid–based crop‑water model with interprovincial and global trade matrices to quantify how trade reshapes blue (irrigation) and green (rainfall) water consumption, regional water scarcity, and the economic value of water across China.

Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Vacuolar H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) is essential for vacuolar acidification, ion homeostasis, and development in various organisms, including plant pathogens. The V-ATPase a-subunit has been recently identified as the target protein of the oomycete inhibitor fluopicolide, highlighting the favorable druggability of V-ATPase.
Glycyrrhizin preparations in liver diseases: a narrative review of mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Abstract Glycyrrhizin preparations (GLPS), derived from Glycyrrhiza uralensis (licorice), are widely used hepatoprotective agents in clinical practice. Their primary active components, 18α- and 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), are represented by formulations including diammonium glycyrrhizinate (DG), compound glycyrrhizin (CG), and magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate (MgIG).
Association between free triiodothyronine, resting metabolic rate, systemic immune-inflammation index levels and diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetic patients with euthyroidism
Abstract Introduction: Thyroid hormones (TH) play important role in retinal development and maintaining retinal functional hemostasis. Resting metabolic rate (RMR) provides an estimate of the minimum amount of energy expenditure and has a bearing on insulin resistance. Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a new inflammatory biomarker associated with diabetic complications. Inflammation and energy metabolism imbalance are closely related to the pathogenesis of diabetes retinopathy (DR).
Effects of Virtual Reality-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Sick Role Adaptation for Patients With Colorectal Cancer: A Randomised Controlled Trial
1 Introduction Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a global health challenge, which is the third most prevalent cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both sexes [1]. In China, CRC ranked second among newly diagnosed cases in 2022 [2]. While CRC typically affects older population, there has been a worrisome trend toward younger age at onset [3].
AI-driven feature recognition of SEM profiles in deep reactive ion etching based on physics-constrained variational autoencoder - Microsystems & Nanoengineering
Abstract Deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) is critical for fabricating high-aspect-ratio structures in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), yet its complex, parameter-dependent process poses significant optimization challenges. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers an efficient optimization solution, but its implementation faces the technical challenge of acquiring large-scale data from scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, the standard for evaluating DRIE etching outcomes.

Potential Impact of Multiple Climate Factors on the High Temperatures Over Eurasian Continent in Summer 2022
ABSTRACT The Eurasian continent, specifically Europe, West Asia, East Asia, and the Russian Far East, experienced anomalously high temperatures during the summer of 2022. The physical drivers of this unusually warm summer are investigated using the dominant empirical orthogonal function (EOF) modes of summer 2-m air temperature over Eurasia for the period 1960–2022. The results indicate that the exceptionally warm conditions were primarily linked to three climatic modes.

Novel coronaviruses identified in livestock: The urgent need to enhance coronavirus surveillance to mitigate zoonotic risks
Dear Editor, A recent report in this journal on the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) virus infection in dairy cattle has renewed concerns regarding livestock farming.1 Livestock farming is shaped by a complex interplay of geographic, economic, cultural, and environmental factors. The global demand for meat, dairy products, and wool has positioned pigs, cattle, and sheep as the dominant species in global farming.
Tandem reaction-adsorption separation of perfluorinated cyclopropane/propane mixtures
Abstract Separating perfluorinated cyclopropane/propane mixtures is critical yet challenging for sustainably producing high-purity perfluropropane in the advanced electronics industry. Conventional one-step adsorption separation methods lack proper selectivity due to similar molecular sizes and properties. We introduce a tandem reaction-adsorption approach with ultrahigh selectivity and low-pressure uptake.
