The potential role and research progress of the gut microbiota–NGF axis in postmenopausal bone homeostasis imbalance
Abstract Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)is a common metabolic bone disease characterized by an imbalance in bone remodeling due to estrogen deficiency. Increasing evidence suggests that alterations in gut microbiota, intestinal barrier, immune response, microbial metabolites, and autonomic nervous activity are involved in postmenopausal bone loss.
Catalytic Promiscuity and Cascade Reaction Mechanism of Ketosteroid Isomerases for Addition Reactions of Cyclic Enones
Abstract Steroidal medicines are a vital class of pharmaceuticals, with their active ingredients primarily derived from natural steroids. A key step in their biosynthesis involves the isomerization of ∆5−3-ketosteroids to ∆4−3-ketosteroids, catalyzed by ketosteroid isomerase (KSI). In this study, we discover that KSI exhibits an unexpected catalytic promiscuity, efficiently converting cyclic enones into homo- and hetero-addition products.
A cytochrome P450 gene, GmSUR2 a , confers submergence tolerance and improves yield in soybean by modulating auxin homeostasis
INTRODUCTION As global warming intensifies, extreme weather is becoming increasingly frequent, posing severe threats to agricultural production. Among them, flooding is a major abiotic stress. Research indicates that approximately 12% of global croplands are affected by flooding, resulting in crop yield losses ranging from 40% to 80% (Shabala et al., 2014; Li et al., 2021b; Zhou et al., 2021b; Toulotte et al., 2022).

Grounded reconfigurable metamaterials with customized mapping-invariant behavior
Abstract Mechanical behavior of synthetic materials depends on their microstructure and geometric configurations. This dependency leads to unintended performance when the material remaps its microstructures for shape reconfigurations, such as diminished rigidity in unfolded aerospace morphing structures and reduced sensitivity in twisted soft sensors. Breaking this dependency through material design to improve overall performance has been a long-standing challenge.

The role of gut microbiota–immune–endocrine crosstalk in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis
Abstract Osteoporosis (OP) is a common metabolic bone disorder characterized by decreased bone mass and deterioration of bone microarchitecture that result in increased bone fragility and fracture risk, especially in postmenopausal women and older adults. The gut microbiota–immune–endocrine axis has recently emerged as an important regulator of bone homeostasis, but its mechanistic role in OP pathogenesis remains incompletely understood.

Probing hidden symmetry via nonlinear transport in an altermagnet candidate Ca3Ru2O7 - Nature Communications
Abstract X-ray and neutron diffraction are foundational tools for structure determination; however, their resolution limits can lead to misassignments in materials with subtle distortions. Here we demonstrate that nonlinear transport provides a powerful complementary approach to uncover hidden crystal symmetries, using Ca3Ru2O7 as a case study. Below the magnetic transition at TS = 48 K, our experiment reveals a previously overlooked lower-symmetry phase.

Knowledge Is Power: The Importance of Public Accounting Experience for Mutual Fund Managers' Monitoring
1 Introduction As important capital market participants, institutional investors play an integral role in monitoring firm management through various corporate governance practices (Shleifer and Vishny 1986; Pound 1988; Smith 1996). Prior research documents that institutional investor oversight improves firms' accounting transparency.
Colloid‐Mediated Synthesis of Hierarchically Porous Amorphous Catalyst for Durable Industrial‐Scale Water Electrolysis
1 Introduction Hydrogen (H2) plays a pivotal role in the decarbonization of industrial, transport, and energy systems [1-3]. Electrocatalytic water splitting using excess intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal power offers a sustainable and efficient route for high-purity H2 production [4, 5].

The association between social capital and diabetes control: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Introduction: Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing global health challenges of the 21st century, with estimates suggesting 589 million adults aged 20–79 were living with diabetes in 2024. Although social capital has been shown to be associated with diabetes control, attempts to consolidate the evidence in the form of a systematic review have been limited.

Creating ultra‐high linolenic acid camelina by co‐expressing AtFAD2sm with synonymous mutations and BnFAD3 in the fae1 mutant
Alpha-linolenic acid (α-linolenic acid, ALA, 18:3) is an ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), which along with linoleic acid (LA, 18:2, ω6) is essential for human nutrition that must be obtained through dietary sources due to the absence of Δ12/Δ15 fatty acid desaturases in mammals. Vegetable oils rich in 18:3, such as flaxseed oil, are prone to oxidation, leading to issues like a short shelf-life.

Developmental dynamic transcriptomics reveals multiple effectors and transcription factors critical for Ditylenchus destructor parasitism
Abstract Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) pose a major threat to global agricultural production, yet fundamental research on their biology remains limited. The origin and evolutionary trajectory of PPNs remain elusive, largely due to the scarcity of chromosome-level genomic data. Among them, migratory PPNs are considered a key transitional form between free-living and obligate parasitic lifestyles, as they exhibit both plant parasitism and fungal feeding behaviors.

Solvothermal-assisted defect engineering in hierarchically porous carbonized wood fibers for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries
Solvothermal-assisted defect engineering in hierarchically porous carbonized wood fibers for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries The pursuit of carbon neutrality and reduced carbon dioxide emissions has necessitated the development of high-energy-density energy storage devices. To this end, Li–S batteries, with their exceptionally high energy density and theoretical specific capacity, have emerged promising.

Ultrafine Homologous Ni2P–Co2P Heterostructures via Space‐Confined Topological Transformation for Superior Urea Electrolysis
Abstract Constructing effective electrocatalysts based on ultrafine heterostructures is a promising strategy for boosting catalytic performance by exposing active sites and increasing specific surface area. However, the fabrication of catalytically active heterostructures with elaborate architectures is still poorly developed owing to synthetic challenges, and the intrinsic mechanism of heterogeneous interfaces remains unclear because of insufficient evidence regarding real active sites.
Response Surface Method for Reliability Analysis Based on Iteratively-Reweighted-Least-Square Extreme Learning Machines
Abstract : A response surface method for reliability analysis based on iteratively-reweighted-least-square extreme learning machines (IRLS-ELM) is explored in this paper, in which, highly nonlinear implicit performance functions of structures are approximated by the IRLS-ELM. Monte Carlo simulation is then carried out on the approximate IRLS-ELM for structural reliability analysis. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed method.
