Low systolic blood pressure in treated non-proteinuric CKD: cardiovascular harm or a marker of cardiac vulnerability?
Dear Editor, We read with great interest the study by Suzuki et al. examining blood pressure (BP) and cardiovascular risk in 287,238 adults with non-proteinuric chronic kidney disease (CKD) without diabetes [1]. By focusing on a less well-characterized CKD phenotype, the study provides valuable evidence for BP risk stratification in this population.

Preconception Glycemic Control: Reducing Risk of Congenital Heart Defect in Offspring
Submitted: 09 October 2026 You are already at the latest version Congenital heart defects (CHD) are among the most common birth defects and a leading cause of infant mortality. Pregestational diabetes mellitus increases risk of fetal CHD. However, this association and prevention implications have not been integrated across literature.
Rapid Detection of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Infants With Severe Infection Disease by Instant Nanofluorescent Microspheres-Immunochromatography Combined With Recombinase Polymerase Isothermal Amplification Technology
1 Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae belongs to the enterobacterales and is a common pathogenic bacterium in hospital infections. It can cause infections in multiple parts of the body, including the lungs, liver, urethra, blood, and brain. In severe cases, it can cause severe disseminated infections and pose significant harm to humans [1].
Recreational screen use and internalizing problems from preadolescence to young adulthood in a longitudinal twin cohort with co-twin comparison
Abstract The mental health impact of increasing recreational screen use among youth has raised substantial concerns, yet questions about causality remain unresolved. Here, leveraging a co-twin control design, we examined associations between screen use and internalizing problems from childhood to early adulthood among 21,797 Swedish twins, accounting for shared familial factors.
Unraveling the multifaceted relationship between creativity and mental health with longitudinal analyses of genotyped twins
Abstract Existing findings of creativity and mental health associations are inconsistent, partly due to heterogeneous assessment of creativity and mental health. Consequently, basic questions concerning the direction and domain specificity of these associations remain unanswered.
Risk factors for corneal endothelial cell damage after phacoemulsification
Abstract This prospective study aimed to identify risk factors for endothelial cell loss (ECL) after phacoemulsification surgery. A total of 194 eyes from 136 patients undergoing phacoemulsification were included. Demographic data and biometric parameters were evaluated preoperatively. Corneal endothelial cell parameters were obtained at the mid-stage (1–3 months postoperatively) and late-stage (≥ 6 months postoperatively). The primary endpoint was absolute ECL at the late-stage follow-up.
Interlayer hybridization promotes superconductivity in bilayer nickelates
Abstract Ruddlesden—Popper nickelates offer a route to high-temperature superconductivity beyond cuprates and iron pnictides. However, the electronic reconstruction enabling superconductivity in bilayer nickelates remains unresolved, largely due to the difficulty of directly probing superconducting samples. Here we stabilize superconducting (La,Pr)3Ni2O7 thin films with a protective capping layer, enabling direct X-ray absorption and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering measurements.

From dietary exposure to systemic toxicity: organ-on-chip and multi-organ microphysiological systems for green food toxicology

CircLAMA5 traps Sam68 in the cytoplasm to regulate alternative splicing and drive sunitinib resistance in ccRCC
Abstract Tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) resistance remains a major challenge in the treatment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), yet the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we identify circular RNA circLAMA5 (hsa_circ_0061093) as a critical driver of sunitinib resistance in ccRCC. CircLAMA5 is significantly upregulated in sunitinib‑resistant cell lines and cell‑derived xenografts (CDX-R).

Communication-efficient distributed quantile regression with missing at random covariates
Abstract Quantile regression provides a robust estimation against outliers and characterizes the influence at different quantile levels. However, its application to distributed systems with missing covariates remains challenging due to non-smooth loss functions and communication burdens. To address these issues, we propose a simultaneous algorithm for quantile regression (SAQR).

XPO1-mediated TRIM21 nuclear export reprograms TREM2+ macrophage polarization by targeting IRF3 to augment anti-PD-1 efficacy in small cell lung cancer
Abstract Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive malignancy that responds poorly to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy, due to its immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Here, we analyse preclinical mouse tumor models and patient-derived SCLC samples and identify Exportin 1 (XPO1) as a regulator of immune suppression in SCLC.

Clonal Hematopoiesis in Colorectal Cancer: Mechanisms and Implications
1 Introduction Clonal hematopoiesis (CH), defined as the expansion of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) carrying somatic mutations, is increasingly recognized as a biological phenomenon that intersects with multiple disease contexts [1-3]. Although originally viewed as an age-associated event in otherwise healthy individuals, CH has emerged as a modifier of systemic inflammation, immune remodeling, and cancer susceptibility [4, 5].

Association of IL4I1 + M2-like macrophages in tumor microenvironment with poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma: insights from bioinformatics and experimental validation
Abstract Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with poor prognosis and limited responses to immunotherapy, partly due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Tumor-associated macrophages, especially M2-like macrophages, play important roles in HCC progression. Interleukin-4-induced gene 1 (IL4I1), a tryptophan-metabolizing enzyme, has been implicated in tumor immune regulation.
