Massive release of predominantly magmatic carbon drove an Early Jurassic hyperthermal
Abstract The Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (T-OAE, ~183 Ma) was a major hyperthermal event in the Phanerozoic, characterised by massive carbon release and widespread organic carbon burial. However, the source(s), flux, and sequestration pathways of carbon remain uncertain. Here, we assimilate globally representative carbon isotope and atmospheric CO2 records into an Earth system model to decipher the carbon cycle during the T-OAE.
Nonlinear association between remnant cholesterol inflammation index and incident stroke among middle-aged and older adults with hypertension: a CHARLS cohort study
Abstract Background: The remnant cholesterol inflammation index (RCII) combines remnant cholesterol (RC) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), two markers that may reflect residual lipid-related and inflammatory vascular burden. We examined whether baseline RCII was associated with incident stroke among hypertensive middle-aged and older adults and whether this association was nonlinear.

Reduced Maintenance DNA Methylation Thresholds Enable Sensitive Reporter Assays for UHRF1 and DNMT1 Inhibition
1 Introduction Aberrant DNA hypermethylation at promoter CpG islands (CGIs) silences tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) and drives malignant progression of human cancers [1-4]. These DNA methylation abnormalities are mitotically inherited through DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), whose recruitment to nascent DNA depends on the cofactor protein UHRF1 (ubiquitin like with PHD and RING finger domains 1) [5-8].

Microbial metabolism amplified warming in three Phanerozoic hyperthermal events - Nature Communications
Abstract The ocean’s biological carbon pump (BCP) plays a crucial role in climate regulation by facilitating long-term removal of atmospheric CO2. However, BCP changes during past hyperthermals remain poorly understood. Here we use the vertical carbon isotope (δ13C) gradients between surface and mid-waters to trace the BCP changes during the Permian−Triassic, early Toarcian, and Palaeocene−Eocene hyperthermals, detecting a two- to three-fold increase in the vertical δ13C gradients.
