ROS-autocatalytic nanoplatform interfering astrocyte-cancer crosstalk and enhancing glioblastoma therapy
Abstract Glioblastoma (GBM) remains incurable and exhibits exceptionally high metabolic demands, driving the evolution of hyperactive mitochondrial systems within tumors. In parallel, mitochondrial transfer from astrocytes to cancer cells fuels metabolic reprogramming and enhances GBM tumorigenicity. These malignant traits markedly constrain therapeutic efficacy and patient survival.

CD147-Conjugated Minocycline Nanomicelles Alleviate Neuroinflammation and Improve Neurological Function Following Intracerebral Hemorrhage
1 Introduction Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating subtype of stroke characterized by high mortality and long-term disability rates [1-3]. The initial brain injury results from hematoma-induced mechanical compression, followed by a multifactorial secondary brain injury that worsens the clinical outcomes [4, 5]. Among these secondary processes, neuroinflammation plays a central role in driving disease progression [2].
Spontaneous intermuscular hematoma in mixed connective tissue disease: a case report
Abstract Spontaneous large intermuscular hematoma secondary to mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is extremely rare. We report a 57-year-old female with long-standing MCTD admitted for abdominal pain and fever (septic shock due to E. coli pyelonephritis). On hospital day 8, she developed a left thigh hematoma (10 × 14 cm). CTA failed to identify the bleeding vessel, but transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) stabilized the hematoma.

Full-polarization-compatible optical storage for arbitrary polarized modes
Abstract Efficient quantum storage for polarization-encoded information is essential for quantum communication and quantum computation. However, current high-efficiency quantum storage, particularly those based on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) protocol in atomic media, exhibit an inherent sensitivity for photonic polarization. This necessitates transforming the polarization encoding into path encoding, setting strict requirements for phase and alignment stability.

Deep learning-driven integrated pipeline for de novo design and synthesis of antimicrobial peptides
Abstract Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising alternatives to conventional antibiotics against bacterial infections. However, the discovery of AMPs is impeded by the limitations of biochemical screening and the difficulty computational approaches face in balancing efficacy with structural diversity.
Degradable polymers via controlled alternating ring-opening metathesis copolymerization of bio-sourced oxa-norbornenes and 2,3-dihydrofuran
Abstract To mitigate the environmental footprint of the polymer industry, developing sustainable and eco-friendly bio-based polymers has become imperative. Herein, we report the synthesis of degradable, bio-based copolymers via the alternating ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of biomass-derived oxa-norbornenes (synthesized from itaconic anhydride and furfuryl alcohol) and 2,3-dihydrofuran (DHF).
The Cognitive benefits of nitrate in patients with alcohol use disorder: unraveling the oral microbiome ectopic colonization pathway
Abstract Our prior research revealed that dietary nitrate (NO₃⁻) may mitigate alcohol-induced cognitive impairment through oral microbiota modulation and attenuation of inflammatory responses in mice. While alcohol use disorder (AUD) is known to associate with cognitive decline and gut dysbiosis, the therapeutic potential of nitrate supplementation in ameliorating these effects remains to be elucidated.

Reinvigorating COTL1 high NK cells via GITR signalling overcomes immune checkpoint blockade resistance in tsMHC-I-impaired tumours
Abstract Patients with impaired tumour-specific major histocompatibility complex class I (tsMHC-Iimpaired) often fail to respond to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB), presenting a major clinical challenge. However, through our multicentre investigation, we observed that a subset of patients with tsMHC-Iimpaired remains responsive to ICB, a phenomenon that has not been fully explained. Here we identify a COTL1high natural killer (NK) subset that mediates ICB responsiveness in these patients.

An unconventional Rubisco small subunit underpins the CO2-concentrating organelle in land plants
Editor’s summary Hornworts are small land plants that sometimes contain carbon-concentrating organelles similar to those found in algae. Robison et al. investigated the properties of the small subunits of Rubisco, the enzyme that fixes carbon (see the Perspective by Meyer and Griffiths). They found an atypical small subunit in hornworts that self-aggregates through an extension to the C terminus.
Irregular hierarchical-porous polymer for high-performance soft thermoelectrics
Editor’s summary The introduction of a hierarchy of pores into a conjugated polymer improves its thermoelectric performance. Zhang et al. created irregularly shaped pores in selenium-substituted diketopyrrolopyrrole by adding polystyrene as a phase-separating agent. After removing the polystyrene, the porous structure showed enhanced phonon-like scattering, which lowered its thermal conductivity, was more crystalline, and had improved charge transport.
Task learning increases information redundancy of neural responses in macaque visual cortex
Editor’s summary How learning changes neural representations over long periods of time remains largely unknown. Researchers have long assumed that during learning, neural circuits become more streamlined, reduce redundancy, and fine-tune themselves to deliver disentangled information to downstream systems. Using population recordings from the visual cortex of monkeys, Liu et al. investigated how neural responses change over weeks of learning and from moment to moment within single trials.
Nanodomain-localized formin gates symbiotic microbial entry in legume and solanaceous plants
Editor’s summary Plant-fungal symbioses are widespread, but bacterial rhizobia only form nodulating relationships with legume plants. Qiao et al. found an actin-nucleating protein, SYFO2, which is part of the formin protein family and is involved in both types of symbiotic relationships. SYFO2 is required for entry of symbionts into root hairs in both the legume Medicago and the nonlegume tomato.
Repeated convergent evolution of bradykinin mimics as defensive toxins
Editor’s summary Bradykinin is a peptide hormone that causes pain and vasodilation in mammals during wound response. Although bradykinin arose in early vertebrates, similar or identical molecules exist in venoms and toxins in certain wasps and frogs. Shi et al. looked across representative species from the orders Hymenoptera and Anura to determine these genes’ evolutionary origin.
Multiple chromosomal inversions modulate continuous local adaptation along a steep thermal cline
Editor’s summary When chromosomal inversions link beneficial alleles, they can serve as potent targets of selection. However, determining which genes are of interest in inversions can be difficult. To identify the genetic basis of nine traits in the Atlantic silverside (Menidia menidia), Akopyan et al. examined the offspring of crosses between two geographically distant populations of these fish.
A molecule with half-Möbius topology
Abstract Stereoisomers of C13Cl2 exhibiting helical orbitals around a ring of carbon atoms were synthesized by atom manipulation on NaCl surfaces. We resolved the enantiomeric geometries of the singlet states by atomic force microscopy and mapped their helical orbital densities by scanning tunnelling microscopy. A π-orbital basis of the helical, non-planar singlets that twists by 90° in one circulation is consistent with a half-Möbius topology.

Structural modeling reveals phage proteins that manipulate bacterial immune signaling
Editor’s summary When a bacterium is infected by a phage virus, it uses small signaling molecules to activate its defenses. Phages, in turn, have evolved ways to evade these defenses by capturing and “confiscating” the alert molecules, but how they do so has remained largely unknown. Tal et al.
