HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Decades after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, the effects of slavery are still felt today. For a Houston great-grandfather, he's hoping to get what he says is a missing part of his identity: a birth certificate. "I was born on Ellerbe Plantation. Shreveport, Louisiana," James Dorsey said. "As far as you could go on the plantation. That's where I was living at." Born on Aug. 14, 1931, Dorsey says life for Blacks at the time meant living on a plantation.

A 15-year-old was killed, and an 18-year-old was injured in a shooting late Monday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. According to investigators, deputies were called to a home on Remington Ridge Drive around 10 p.m. Investigators said when deputies arrived, they found the two male victims with gunshot wounds. The sheriff's office said it believes there was an argument before shots were fired between the two.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 15-year-old was killed, and a second person was injured in a shooting late Monday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office says the second victim is believed to be 18 years old. According to investigators, deputies were called to a home on Remington Ridge Drive around 10 p.m. Investigators said when deputies arrived, they found the two victims, both males, with gunshot wounds.
