Crews called to extinguish fire at historic Columbia home, family displaced

(WIS) - Crews with the Columbia-Richland Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday morning at 2312 Park Street. The homeowner told WIS that he smelled smoke around 9 a.m. while getting ready to leave the house. He said he discovered a fire on the back deck and immediately told his family to evacuate. No injuries were reported.

West Columbia unveils Gus Manos Memorial Street to honor late Zesto owner, councilman

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The City of West Columbia unveiled the Gus Manos Memorial Street on Wednesday. The street naming is in honor of the late Gus Manos, recognizing his lasting contributions to the West Columbia community as a beloved businessperson, mentor, and civic leader. Manos, the beloved owner of popular food stop Zesto of West Columbia, passed away in December at the age of 88. Per his obituary, Manos was born in Greece and came to the United States at the age of 11.
