RANSON, W.Va. — Ranson City Council passed an ordinance rezoning two parcels of land totaling roughly 7.4 acres, as well as rejected a proposed amendment to that ordinance, during its June 16 meeting. The parcels, which are located off Jefferson Terrace Road and within the WV-9 Corridor Preferred Development Area, were effectively rezoned from Urban Commercial Mixed Use (UCX) to Highway Commercial.

F-16 intercepts private plane over Hagerstown for violating temporary air space

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A F-16 fighter jet was scrambled to intercept a private plane over Hagerstown, Md., on Saturday after the pilot entered temporary restricted airspace. The airspace was closed and listed as “VIP Temporary Flight Restriction” and was in place surrounding Camp David in Thurmont, Md. It’s unknown if high-ranking U.S. officials were at Camp David, like President Donald Trump or Vice President J.D. Vance.

Chinchilla-Guerra trial to begin Wednesday

The trial of Isai Osmar Chinchilla-Guerra will begin on June 17 in Jefferson County Circuit Court, presided over by the Hon. Bridget Cohee. Chinchilla-Guerra is facing 15 charges stemming from a May 2024 arrest where he allegedly sexually assaulted and attempted to murder a Jefferson County woman. Chinchilla-Guerra was 16 years old at the time of the assault and was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury in January 2025 when he was 17.
