Augusta McDonnell’s Biography
Augusta currently reports and anchors for KTVQ News in Billings, Montana.
She returned to Montana from Oklahoma City, where she worked for KWTV as an education reporter. Augusta also covered the 2022 Oklahoma legislature as a Capitol reporter. Other big stories she covered in Oklahoma include the return of executions, which involved witnessing the execution of death row inmate James Coddington and proceedings leading up to Julius Jones's life being spared. She investigated financial mismanagement in local school districts, sexual abuse cases in schools, lawsuits over COVID policies in schools, and more. She reported from Mayfield, Kentucky, after a tornado killed 70 people and other natural disasters and breaking news stories.
Augusta has attended numerous professional development conferences, including the 2022 NPPA News Video Workshop.
She completed her BA in journalism at the University of Montana before starting her broadcast career at KPAX news in Missoula, also a part of the Montana Television Network.
She was a part of the team at KPAX news that was awarded an E.B. Craney award for breaking news coverage of the Roaring Lion Fire by the Montana Association of Broadcasters. Augusta was also a member of University of Montana School of Journalism’s ‘The Meth Effect’ project highlighting the impacts of methamphetamine in Montana that was awarded a Society of Professional Journalists award.
Augusta also studied journalism, theology, Middle Eastern civilizations, and psychology at Biola University in La Mirada, CA.
She is currently working on her Master's in Global Affairs.
