After a stop in Lewistown, Union Pacific’s Big Boy is set to stop in Huntingdon on its way to Altoona tomorrow, according to Union Pacific officials.

Local apple, other fruit crops devastated by spring freeze leading to low output

Even as summer heat settles in, orchard owners across the Northeast of the country are still dealing with the fallout from freezing temperatures that hit at the end of April, wiping out large portions of this year’s fruit crop. In Bedford County, Ridgetop Orchards co-owner Seth Boyer said a large amount of apples were ruined by spring weather, and some other fruits were completely destroyed.
