For others in Colorado Springs, it sounded “like a war zone.” In a neighborhood near Powers Boulevard and Constitution Avenue in Cimarron Hills, one resident told 11 News she heard fireworks throughout the day — starting the morning of the Fourth of July and continuing past midnight.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Gabriel Rodriguez, a roughly 10-year resident of the Aspen Acres area, said he woke around 5:20 a.m., spotted smoke and immediately began alerting neighbors. “God woke me up. I just had a feeling that something was wrong,” Rodriguez said. “I looked out and saw smoke coming up the hill.” Rodriguez said he and others went door-to-door through the community. The house where he was staying — his father-in-law’s home — burned down in the fire.

Former Pueblo County Coroner, brother, appear in court on charges related to Davis Mortuary Original

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - On Thursday, Brian and Christopher Cotter appeared in court after bonding out of jail on June 26. The Cotters are accused of improperly storing bodies at Davis Mortuary for years. In total, the brothers are charged with 125 counts of abuse of a corpse, alongside multiple counts of forgery and theft. Their attorneys waived advisement on Thursday, saying they need time to prepare for their next court appearance.
