Clinical Benefits and Challenges of Esketamine in Elderly Patients During the Perioperative Period
Abstract Ketamine is a classic intravenous anesthetic. Esketamine is a dextro-isomer of ketamine, with similar mechanism of action, mainly through non-competitive antagonism of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors, higher potency and fewer adverse effects. The characteristics of esketamine include circulatory stimulation, bronchodilatation, inhibition of inflammation and dissociative anesthetic properties.
Integrating solid interfaces for catalysis in all-solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries
Integrating solid interfaces for catalysis in all-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries† All-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries (ASSLSBs) hold great promise for achieving high energy densities. However, their practical applications are hindered by low sulfur utilization and limited cycle life attributed to the sluggish sulfur reaction kinetics.
Overexpression of MtNAC33 enhances biomass yield and drought tolerance in alfalfa
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), a highly valuable perennial forage legume, is extensively cultivated worldwide (Russelle, 2001). As global warming exacerbates evaporation rates, severe drought conditions, characterized by mud cracking, have increasingly affected alfalfa cultivation regions. Drought stress can decrease stomatal conductance, impair photosynthesis activity and induce reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation in Alfalfa plants.

A ·OH self-suppling and dual regulation hybrid nanozyme combined with photothermal therapy to eliminate biofilms and eradicate infections
Bacterial infection is one of the common diseases that seriously threatens human health [1]. During colonization, bacteria often use extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) to form dense biofilms that are difficult to eradicate by commonly antibiotic treatments due to the physical protection of the biofilm matrix [2]. To solve this problem, many researchers have been working on the development of new sterilization strategies.

Axial resolution enhancement for planar Airy beam light-sheet microscopy via the complementary beam subtraction method
Abstract Airy beam light-sheet illumination can extend the field of view (FOV) of light-sheet fluorescence microscopy due to the unique propagation properties of non-diffraction and self-acceleration. However, the side lobes create undesirable out-of-focus background, leading to poor axial resolution and low image contrast. Here, we propose an Airy complementary beam subtraction (ACBS) method to improve the axial resolution while keeping the extended FOV.

Exploring the Activation Process of the β2AR-Gs Complex
G-Protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) belong to an important family of integral membrane receptor proteins that are essential for a variety of transmembrane signaling process, such as vision, olfaction, and hormone responses. They are also involved in many human diseases (Alzheimer’s, heart diseases, etc.) and are therefore common drug targets. Thus, understanding the details of the GPCR activation process is a task of major importance.
The catalytic dwell in ATPases is not crucial for movement against applied torque
Abstract The ATPase-catalysed conversion of ATP to ADP is a fundamental process in biology. During the hydrolysis of ATP, the α3β3 domain undergoes conformational changes while the central stalk (γ/D) rotates unidirectionally. Experimental studies have suggested that different catalytic mechanisms operate depending on the type of ATPase, but the structural and energetic basis of these mechanisms remains unclear.

Robust contrast-transfer-function phase retrieval via flexible deep learning networks
Abstract By exploiting the total variation (TV) regularization scheme and the contrast transfer function (CTF), a phase map can be retrieved from single-distance coherent diffraction images via the sparsity of the investigated object. However, the CTF-TV phase retrieval algorithm often struggles in the presence of strong noise, since it is based on the traditional compressive sensing optimization problem.

Chemistry with Semi-Classical Electrons: Reaction Trajectories Auto-Generated by Sub-Atomistic Force Fields
For a century now, “Lewis dots” have been a mainstay of chemical thinking, teaching and communication. However, chemists have assumed that this semi-classical picture of electrons needs to be abandoned for quantitative work, and the recourse in computational simulations has been to the extremes of first principles treatments of electrons on the one hand and force fields that avoid explicit electrons on the other hand.
