Multi-omic analysis of jaw-bone periosteum identifies the role of macrophage-derived SPP1 in Ctsk + Fmod + periosteal cells
Abstract Periosteal cells (PCs) play a crucial role in bone regeneration. Currently, the spatial landscapes of jaw-bone periosteum during bone grafting remains unclear. In this study, we propose a modified guided bone regeneration (GBR) model and integrate single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics (ST) to dissect its spatial characteristics. We identify a functional subset of Ctsk+Fmod+ PCs within the jaw-bone periosteum of rat and human.
AI use and innovation behavior among university students in relation to challenge and threat appraisals
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in higher education, yet its association with students’ innovation behavior may depend on how it is appraised. Drawing on the transactional model of stress and coping, this cross-sectional study tested whether self-reported AI use was indirectly associated with general innovation behavior through challenge and threat appraisals and whether school innovation support moderated the AI use–appraisal associations.
Leaf development regulates state transition capacity in trees
Abstract State transitions (ST) balance excitation energy between photosystem I and II. This process has been extensively studied in Arabidopsis but the regulation and physiological significance of ST in other angiosperms remain largely unknown. Here, we investigate ST in hybrid aspen and other tree species using physiological, biochemical, ultrastructural, and genetic approaches.
Bioresorbable electrochemical sensors for continuous deep-tissue lactate monitoring in critical care
|
Abstract Lactate is a key metabolite and prognostic biomarker, reflecting oxygen delivery, cellular demand, and mitochondrial function. Current clinical lactate monitoring, however, relies on intermittent blood sampling, limiting localized interrogation, dynamic tracking and early intervention in critical care. Here, we report a bioresorbable and flexible electrochemical sensor for continuous deep-tissue lactate monitoring.

SMAIS: a universal platform for the on-water surface synthesis of two-dimensional polymer crystals
Abstract Two-dimensional polymers (2DPs) are covalent polymeric networks with intrinsic long-range order in two orthogonal directions. Their unique physicochemical properties include tunable opto-electronic properties, mechanical stability and precisely defined nanopores that enable ion and molecular sieving. Here we describe a universal approach for the precise synthesis of 2DPs through the surfactant-monolayer-assisted interfacial synthesis method.

BMX inhibition overcomes small cell lung cancer chemoresistance by stabilizing E2F1 via ERK1/2-Cyclin D1/CDK4/6 axis
Abstract Chemotherapy resistance remains a critical bottleneck limiting its clinical efficacy in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), with its core mechanisms and targeted intervention strategies urgently requiring breakthroughs. Our study revealed that the BMX (bone marrow tyrosine kinase on chromosome X)-E2F1 (E2F transcription factor 1) axis is a pivotal regulator of chemoresistance in SCLC. Synchronous upregulation of phosphorylated BMX (Tyr566) and E2F1 was observed in SCLC tissues and cells.

Loss of qE Does Not Necessarily Lead to Photoinhibition: Sustained Non‐Photochemical Quenching in the Absence of PsbS and Zeaxanthin
1 Introduction Light harvesting is a fundamental process in green photosynthetic organisms, taking place in photosystem II (PSII) and photosystem I (PSI) in the thylakoid membrane. To harvest and efficiently convert solar energy into chemical energy, photosystems have a matrix of pigments excited by light and transfer excitation energy to reaction centres (RCs) where charge separation takes place (for review, see Croce and van Amerongen 2020).
