Frailty and self-neglect among rural older adults in China: indirect associations involving depressive symptoms and social support
Abstract Elder self-neglect (ESN) is an important public health issue associated with adverse health outcomes among older adults. Frailty has been identified as being significantly associated with ESN; however, the psychological and social mechanisms underlying this relationship remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to examine whether depressive symptoms and social support statistically accounted for part of the association between frailty and ESN among rural older adults in China.
Humic acid’s sheltering effect paradoxically promotes antibiotic resistance gene dissemination during peroxymonosulfate water treatment
Abstract Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) utilizing peroxymonosulfate (PMS) are increasingly deployed for water disinfection, yet their impact on the dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) remains poorly understood. Here, we conducted field surveys in three aquaculture ponds in eastern China and employed a Transwell-based horizontal gene transfer (HRT) sorting assay, metagenomics, and transcriptomics to investigate the underlying mechanisms.

KI-definiertes Automobil: Warum Europa klare Position braucht

Light-induced quantum friction of carbon nanotubes in water
Abstract Friction slows down moving objects at both macroscopic and microscopic scales1. At the electronic level, quantum friction describes direct transfer of momentum between a liquid and the electrons of a solid2. Owing to its microscopic nature, this phenomenon remains experimentally challenging to capture3. Here we show that near-infrared fluorescent single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibit light-induced quantum friction in water.

Clinical value of PDCA circulation nursing in reducing nosocomial infection
1 Introduction Hospital-acquired infections, also defined as healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), represent a major global challenge to patient safety and healthcare systems. They refer to infections acquired by patients while receiving treatment for other conditions within healthcare facilities, which may occur during hospitalization or after discharge. These infections exclude any pre-existing infections or infections present at admission but not yet manifesting symptoms (1, 2).
One‐Pot Incorporation of Quantum Defects into Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes with Arylazo Sulfonates
Introduction Solid state (nano)materials have versatile optoelectronic properties, but their synthesis often lacks the chemical precision that is known from molecular chemistry.

The impact of fine particulate pollution (PM2.5) on hospitalization costs in China
1 Introduction Air pollution control has been a global priority, especially for developing countries (1). In the past two decades, China’s rapid economic growth has led to environmental deterioration, with air pollution a major issue. The Global Burden of Disease 2019 study indicates that air pollution in China was responsible for 1.85 million deaths in 2019, with up to 1.42 million of these deaths directly related to particulate matter pollution.
Association of thyroid hormone sensitivity indicators with visceral fat area in euthyroid overweight/obese type 2 diabetes patients: sex differences
Introduction Overweight/obesity are major risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), a growing global health challenge (1). Among obesity phenotypes, abdominal obesity characterized by increased visceral fat area (VFA) is particularly associated with the development and complications of T2DM, as well as with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other metabolic disorders (2).
Research status and prospects of molecular pathological mechanisms and novel therapeutic targets of osteosarcoma: a systematic review
1 Introduction As the most common primary malignant bone tumour, osteosarcoma (OS) has an annual incidence of 3.4–4.2 cases per million people worldwide, with significant regional differences. The incidence rate in Asia (4.5–5.1 per million) is higher than that in Africa (2.8–3.2 per million) and Europe (3.6–4.0 per million), and the survival rate in developing countries is generally lower than that in developed countries (the five-year survival rate difference is 15–20%) (1).

Toward a New Understanding of Graphene Oxide Photolysis: The Role of Photoreduction in Degradation Pathway
1 Introduction Graphene oxide (GO), a fascinating derivative of graphene,[1-3] displays the myriad applications in water purification,[4, 5] photocatalysts,[6] electrocatalysts,[7] and nanofillers in various composite materials.[8-12] In contrast to graphene, GO has abundant oxygen-containing functional groups (OFGs), including carboxyl groups on the edges and hydroxyl and epoxy groups on the surface.[3, 13] OFGs disrupt the hybrid network of sp2 carbon and make GO electrically insulating,...

Effects of guanidino acetic acid and betaine supplementation on growth, dietary nutrient digestion and intestinal creatine metabolism in sheep
1 INTRODUCTION In vertebrates, guanidino acetic acid (GAA) is the only precursor of creatine and is produced by the combination of l-arginine and glycine under the action of arginine: glycine amidinotransferase. Briefly, GAA is translocated from the kidneys to the liver through blood. In the liver, the methyl group of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) is transferred to GAA under the action of guanidinoacetate amidino transferase to synthesize creatine (Negro et al., 2019).
BLSTM convolution and self-attention network enabled recursive and direct prediction for optical chaos
Chaotic time series prediction has attracted much attention in recent years because of its important applications, such as security analysis for random number generators and chaos synchronization in private communications. Herein, we propose a BLSTM convolution and self-attention network model to predict the optical chaos. We validate the model’s capability for direct and recursive prediction, and the model dramatically reduces the accumulation of errors.

Nickel-catalysed highly regioselective synthesis of β-acyl naphthalenes under reductive conditions
Nickel-catalysed highly regioselective synthesis of β-acyl naphthalenes under reductive conditions† Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in the direct C–H acylation of naphthalenes, occurring at the α or β-positions to yield valuable ketones through Friedel–Crafts acylation or transition-metal-catalysed carbonylative coupling reactions. Nevertheless, highly regioselective acylation of naphthalenes remains a formidable challenge.

Effects of quercetin on the DNA methylation pattern in tumor therapy: an updated review
Effects of quercetin on the DNA methylation pattern in tumor therapy: an updated review Quercetin is a unique bioactive flavonoid, which is an excellent antioxidant and has anti-tumor effects by regulating different tumor-related processes like proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and spread. The latest investigation reveals quercetin may have the capability to influence DNA methylation modification, one of the primary factors in the development of tumors.
