Blueberry & Apple Muffins
Buckwheat flour is the secret to the large, lacey galettes of the Normandy region and, along with quinoa, is one of the best plant proteins out there. Pretty much any natural/unrefined syrup could also be used here, with the caveat that they might make for slightly different versions of the cake. Finally, these muffins are also a good source of multiple micronutrients, including vitamin E, biotin and riboflavin, and fibre.

Crispy Tempeh With Sesame Spinach
Unlike fake, processed meats, tempeh is an authentic product with a firm place within Japanese culture. A fermented soya bean originally from Indonesia, the biggest selling point is the way it crisps up when fried. You can also fry the spinach leaves in a drop of oil until they wilt, if preferred.

Harissa Baked Chicken
July 26 2018 Harissa Baked Chicken Recipe By: Rawia Bishara Try this Harissa Baked Chicken recipe from the cookbook Levant. Heat can register on the palate in a myriad of ways: a jalapeño lands differently than wasabi, and the same goes for black pepper and harissa. The latter is my favorite for imparting both flavor and fire, just assertive enough to jolt a dish while contributing intriguing, aromatic depth.

S'mores Cheesecake with Summer Berries
One of my "go to" recipes when I want to wow the crowd. I make it per the recipe, except for a few very small changes: 1) Crust- I use a few more graham crackers, omit the sugar (the entire cheesecake is sweet enough), and bring the crumbs up the side of the pan; 2) filling- I use a 10oz. bag of Ghiradelli 60% bittersweet chocolate chips (more intense chocolate flavor without the cloying sweetness of the milk chocolate; and 3) omit the berries altogether.

This Multi-Seed Rosh Hashanah Challah Is the Ultimate Art Project
There's a reason that most of us played with Play-Doh as kids. It's really, really fun to play with dough. Sticking our fingers into that soft smooshiness, molding that dough into a variety of shapes, squashing it together and starting over again. When we grow up, if we're into baking, we transition to less colorful, more edible types of dough, and we just plain stop playing with it. Until, of course, we find a recipe that lets us start smooshing again. Challah is that dough.
Four Fresh Takes on Portuguese Cooking
Salt cod, or bacalhau, is a common Portuguese ingredient. It’s simply cod that’s been salted and dried as a preservation technique, but it also concentrates flavors. It’s easy to find, and while preparation is time-consuming (a long soak removes excess saltiness and restores texture), it’s simple to make. “Açorda is one of the most authentic Portuguese dishes, and it always must include bread, water, garlic, cilantro, olive oil and eggs,” says Carreira.
Rachael Ray Every Day
Choose a cocktail (here it’s the Sparkling Singapore Sling Punch, but it could be something simpler like gin and tonics or wine spritzers), then arrange the ingredients in a spot away from the kitchen so guests can get the party started while you finish cooking. Set out garnishes like fruit slices, citrus twists or cocktail confetti: Take a well-washed hole punch to apple peels or thin citrus skins (like clementines) to toss in your drinks.
