FEMA approves $3 million for North City church tornado recovery

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - FEMA is approving $3 million in disaster recovery funds to help rebuild after the May 16, 2025, tornado. The funding comes 13 months after the twister destroyed Centennial Christian Church, killing Patricia Penelton when the building collapsed. “It was very emotional seeing it come down, actually I cried because it was just an impact forever in this community,” said Annette Smith, a longtime Fountain Park resident.

MSD breaks ground on first Prop S-funded stormwater project

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -MSD will break ground this week on its first stormwater project funded by Prop S, installing 150 feet of new stormwater pipe on Ulena Avenue in south St. Louis’ Bevo Mill neighborhood. MSD says several backyards and garages flood in the area during hard rains. The new pipe will reduce flooding. This is one of 500 stormwater improvement projects MSD has identified in St. Louis city and county.

Manchester launches $3 million sidewalk project to improve pedestrian safety on busy Route 100

MANCHESTER, Mo. (First Alert 4) — The city of Manchester is starting a $3 million project this month to build and repair sidewalks along one of the region’s busiest roads. State Route 100, which shares its path with Manchester Road, stretches 30 miles from St. Louis to St. Louis County, touching nearly a dozen municipalities. More than 20,000 cars use Manchester Road daily through the city of Manchester, according to MoDOT.
