Teen suffers serious burns in Norton house fire

A teenager suffered serious burns to his leg following a house fire in Norton on Sunday morning. Firefighters were called to a single-family home on North Washington Street around 9 a. m. When crews arrived they observed heavy smoke on all floors of the home, according to Norton Fire Chief Shawn Simmons.

Demonstrators gather in Warwick to protest proposed ICE facility

Dozens of demonstrators gathered in Warwick Sunday afternoon to protest against the ongoing construction of a new Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility. Members and supporters of Never Again Action Rhode Island were at the site on Jefferson Boulevard to oppose the new offices and detention capacity that will be built for ICE.
