Loss-engineered reconfigurable polaritons - Nature Communications
Abstract Phonon polaritons, with their strong field confinement, enable extreme miniaturization of photonic devices. While optical loss is conventionally perceived as a fundamental limit to be compensated, here we demonstrate a novel scheme by harnessing leakage-induced loss as a degree of freedom for mode manipulation.
A hybrid high activity aware framework integrating graph attention network and transformer for half maximal inhibitory concentration prediction
Abstract Introduction: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors targeting the c-KIT receptor are pivotal in the targeted therapy of malignancies such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). The bioactivity of these inhibitors is typically quantified by the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50), making its accurate prediction a critical computational task for accelerating the discovery and optimization of anticancer lead compounds.

Optical fibre gripper for high-performance 3D micromanipulation
Abstract Optical tweezers offer precise, non-contact control, but operate in a limited force regime and impose strict requirements on the characteristics of the targets as well as the environmental conditions1,2,3,4. Millimetre-scale mechanical tweezers can offer higher gripping force but are not suitable for precise manipulations5,6,7,8,9,10,11. Integrating microgrippers directly at the optical fibres provides a new approach for precise micromanipulation.
Selective C–C bond cleavage-enabled annulation between β-lactams and π- systems via Ni–Al bimetallic catalysis
Abstract The substitution of classical dienes with C–C bonds in Diels–Alder-type reactions is a compelling paradigm in modern syntheses. Although activation of C–C bonds α to a single heteroatom has been well established, extending this strategy to synthetically valuable C–C moieties α to two heteroatoms remains challenging because of the competing activation of adjacent C–heteroatom bonds.

Arid3b suppresses CD8 + T cell infiltration and function in microsatellite-stable colorectal cancer via Runx3
Abstract Microsatellite-stable/proficient mismatch repair (MSS/pMMR) colorectal cancer (CRC) is characterized by a cold tumor microenvironment, with limited CD8⁺ T cell infiltration and poor responsiveness to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Here, using an in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 screen in a CMT93 cell-derived murine tumor model, we identify Arid3b as a key negative regulator of CD8⁺ T cell infiltration and antitumor activity.

Endophilin A1 facilitates organization of the GABAergic postsynaptic machinery to maintain excitation-inhibition balance
eLife Assessment This study presents a valuable finding on the molecular mechanisms that govern GABAergic inhibitory synapse function. The authors propose that Endophilin A1 serves as a novel regulator of GABAergic synapses by acting as a component of the inhibitory postsynaptic density. The findings are convincing and likely to interest a broad audience of scientists focusing on inhibitory synaptic transmission, the excitation-inhibition balance, and its disruption in disorders such as epilepsy.

A Fibroblast State Choreographs an Epithelial YAP-dependent Regenerative Program Essential to (Pre)malignancy via ECM-mediated Mechanotransduction
Abstract Chronic lung injury generates metaplasia which occasionally, but ominously, progresses to squamous dysplasia and squamous lung cancer. To identify mechanisms through which disrupted tissue homeostasis contributes to malignant initiation and progression, we used in vivo and in vitro heterotypic recombinant models of human bronchial epithelial cells (hBECs) and fibroblasts. We demonstrate that injury-associated TGF-β signaling creates a fibroblast state dependent upon HSP47 upregulation.

Probing Topological Thermal Flux in Equilibrium Using Electron Beams
Near nonreciprocal media at finite temperature, fluctuating near fields exhibit imbalanced thermal populations in opposite directions, generating equilibrium topological thermal fluxes that circulate the media. While the existence of these fluxes remains unconfirmed, we propose exploiting their interaction with free electron beams for detection. We establish a general framework to quantify thermal flux at any location near an object of arbitrary shape.
Endophilin A1 facilitates organization of the GABAergic postsynaptic machinery to maintain excitation-inhibition balance
Abstract The assembly and operation of neural circuits in the brain rely on the coordination and balance of excitatory and inhibitory activities. Inhibitory synapses are key regulators of the functional balance of neural circuits.
Lymphotoxin-β promotes breast cancer bone metastasis colonization and osteolytic outgrowth - Nature Cell Biology
Abstract Bone metastasis is a lethal consequence of breast cancer. Here we used single-cell transcriptomics to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying bone metastasis colonization—the rate-limiting step in the metastatic cascade. We identified that lymphotoxin-β (LTβ) is highly expressed in tumour cells within the bone microenvironment and this expression is associated with poor bone metastasis-free survival.
Self-extinguishing relay waves enable homeostatic control of human neutrophil swarming
Highlights • Neutrophil swarming is organized by pulsatile, self-extinguishing waves of LTB4 • NADPH-oxidase activation is critical for relay wave self-extinction • Neutrophils adjust the size and number of waves to homeostatically control recruitment • Chronic granulomatosis disease neutrophils generate undamped relay waves that do not extinguish Summary Neutrophils collectively migrate to sites of injury and infection.
