I have been a hard-working multimedia journalist since 2007 and I'm looking for new opportunities on the East Coast and specifically in the New England area.
Over the course of my career, I've done everything from producing nationally syndicated radio shows, to broadcasting championship games, and interviewing professional athletes, politicians and other newsmakers.
I have more than 400 TV video packages, 1,200 written articles and 3,000 radio broadcasts which I've enterprised, produced and edited.
I was born and raised in New England and was relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 1990. While there, I developed my passion for journalism and storytelling through multiple disciplines, including creative writing, photography, film, podcasting and vlogging.
Like most aspiring journalists, I have spent a considerable amount of time and effort trying to get my foot in the door in the mainstream media through various points around the country, but have not as of yet found much success.
While many of my peers have gone on to such success and higher career trajectories, I've had to spend much of the past decade down in the lower strata, working for undermanned, underfunded outlets which needed the help, but did not provide any long-term prospects of either job security or advancement back to larger markets.
As a result, I've had to learn how to be as versatile as possible, taking on roles and tasks not required of my colleagues. If you need someone to do print stories and provide photography? I can do that.
Need video stories with editing and graphics? I can do that as well.
Need photography? I've been doing it for 30 years and I know my way around both Photoshop and Lightroom.
Need someone who understands audio and digital media like radio or podcasting? I have close to a decade of it under my belt.
What I need is someone to offer me a chance to show what I can do and provide me the means to do it. I've been told over the course of my career that if I put in the time, paid my dues and worked within the system, doors of opportunity would inevitably open up for me.
I'm still waiting and I'm still looking.
A law professor once told me that "I've had to live a life that 10,000 people in my shoes couldn't handle." Whether that's true or not is for other people to decide.
