Burrillville volunteers seek answers months after Wallum Lake firehouse blaze

The small fire station housed one engine, and was staffed by volunteer firefighters under the direction of Burrillville's Pascoag Fire Department. Pascoag Fire Chief Michael Dexter spoke with NBC 10. (WJAR) "There's no bathroom facilities, there's no offices, there's nothing in there but a garage, which is a problem in itself," said Pascoag Fire Chief Michael Dexter. Dexter said the fire was caused by a faulty electrical outlet. He said the garage is owned by the state.

Icy ponds hold big trout after winter stocking

Anglers who braved sunny but cold conditions were rewarded with some large fish at Rhode Island ponds. The Department of Environmental Management planned to stock 13 ponds the last two weeks of January. The cold weather meant the DEM had to cut through thick ice in most locations. Barber's Pond in West Kingston was dotted with ice fishermen and women Friday morning, one day after golden trout, rainbow trout, and salmon were released.

Bob's in Cranston closes after 40 years

CRANSTON, R.I. — It’s the last weekend shoppers will be browsing at the Bob’s footwear and apparel store in Cranston. A clerk told NBC 10 the Oaklawn Avenue location will close for good on Saturday, Sept. 28. The going out-of-business sale that began July 1 has cleared out most of the merchandise. It’s the last weekend shoppers will be browsing at the Bob’s footwear and apparel store in Cranston.
