NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Water transmission line construction caused temporary lane and sidewalk closures in the City of North Myrtle Beach. This project is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, according to the city's press release. The RH Moore Company will mobilize a second construction crew this week to begin installation of a new 30-inch water transmission line along Windy Hill Road Extension. This is in addition to the ongoing work already underway on Poinsett Street.

Surfside Beach man arrested for operating Sky Jewelers without retail license: SCDOR

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WPDE) — On Wednesday, the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) arrested a Horry County man and charged him with operating without a retail license. SCDOR said Zachary Travis Mccutcheon, 26, of Surfside Beach, operated Sky Jewelers in Murrells Inlet. The retail license for the business was revoked on June 12, 2025, due to unpaid taxes. The report explained that Mccutcheon continued operating the business without the license to do so.

Little River SC WPDE — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (SCDPH) confirmed a rabid raccoon was found near Highway 17 and Pavilion Drive in Little River. SCDPH said one person was exposed and has been referred to their healthcare provider. The animal was sent to DPH's laboratory for testing on Sept. 11 and was confirmed to have rabies Sept. 12.
