Icariin prevents acute high-altitude pulmonary edema in rats by alleviating oxidative stress and modulating cuproptosis-related proteins
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of ICA in AHAPE. Rats were exposed to a hypobaric hypoxic chamber simulating an altitude of 6000 m (ascent rate: 10 m/s, pressure: 47.3 kPa, O2 concentration: 9.9%) for 3 days to induce AHAPE. To prevent AHAPE, rats were pretreated with ICA (30, 60, or 120 mg/kg/day) or acetazolamide (100 mg/kg/day) for 7 consecutive days before exposure.
Compound Heterozygous PCDH15 Variants Associated With Cone-Rod Dystrophy in a Chinese Pedigree
1 Introduction The PCDH15 gene encodes protocadherin 15, a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the cadherin superfamily, which is characterized by calcium-mediated intercellular adhesion properties (Murcia and Woychik 2001). This protein serves critical functions in establishing neuronal connections and synaptic architecture. Studies have demonstrated PCDH15 expression across multiple tissues including neural tissue, cochlear structures, retinal photoreceptors, and Müller glial cells.
Chinese Intellectual Influencers and the Construction of Algorithmized Nationalism: The Case of Jinri Toutiao
ABSTRACT This study examines how intellectual influencers (wanghong zhishifenzi) contribute to ‘algorithmized nationalism’ on Chinese digital platforms. Through an analysis of 14 high-traffic intellectual accounts and their high-performing videos in Jinri Toutiao (one of China’s largest digital platforms), we argue that these figures actively construct a type of nationalism that is both vocally aggressive and politically conservative, tailored to the platform’s algorithmic recommendation systems.
Saussurea medusa Maxim extract suppresses triple‑negative breast cancer growth by disrupting mitochondrial lipid metabolism via the PPARα/CPT1A fatty acid oxidation axis
Abstract Triple‑negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacks effective targeted therapies and exhibits pronounced metabolic plasticity. Mitochondrial lipid metabolism and fatty acid oxidation (FAO) represent potential vulnerabilities. We investigated the antitumor activity and mechanism of Saussurea medusa Maxim extract (SMME) in TNBC models. SMME was profiled by HPLC–HRMS. Antitumor phenotypes, including viability, apoptosis, migration, and ultrastructural changes, were evaluated in TNBC cells.

Cyber authoritarianism: the power of (in-)stability
Studies of authoritarianism cannot evade the notion of instability which is part of its conceptual core. Much of existing literature in this area treat instability as some form of anti-order, a rupture in the social fabric, to be mended by whatever means the state has at its disposal (Maerz, Citation2018; Xu, Citation2021). Inspired by Lee and Y. Zhang (Citation2013), this special issue advances an alternative perspective.

Platelet-rich plasma for the treatment of postoperative anastomotic fistula of the gastrointestinal tract: a case report
1 Introduction An anastomotic fistula refers to the leakage or rupture of two cavity organs (such as the intestine, esophagus, or stomach) after suture or anastomosis during surgery, resulting in the leakage of contents (such as digestive fluid, food, or feces) into the surrounding tissues or body cavity. This is a serious postoperative complication that may cause infections, abscesses, and peritonitis, and may even be life-threatening.
Heat shock protein modulates cell expansion via ROS homeostasis
Introduction Molecular chaperones, commonly referred to as heat shock proteins (HSPs), are crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis, particularly proteostasis. They achieve this by binding to client proteins to facilitate proper protein folding while preventing misfolding and aberrant aggregation (Schopf et al., 2017). Ubiquitous in eukaryotes, HSPs participate in diverse cellular processes, including steroid hormone receptor signaling and protein kinase activation pathways.
