What is a flash drought?
There has been a lot of talk about a flash drought. Many people think droughts take months or even years to develop. While that’s often true, there is another type called a flash drought that can develop in just a few weeks. Right now, weather patterns suggest Okmulgee County is trending toward conditions that could lead to a flash drought if we don’t receive widespread, soaking rainfall over the next several weeks. The Subly token options allows you to view content by the article.
Sensory nerve-derived signaling coordinates oropharyngeal structural organization that supports suckling and vocalization in neonatal mice
Abstract Proper oropharyngeal function is essential for suckling, feeding, and speech, and relies on the coordinated development of the palate, oropharyngeal musculature, and the cranial nerves that control them. Disruption of this integration leads to severe neonatal complications. However, how neuromuscular architecture is developmentally coordinated to support oropharyngeal function remains unclear.
Chain entanglements enable regeneration of high-performance thermosets
Abstract Thermoset plastics underpin structural materials, electronics and transportation, yet the permanent covalent networks that prevent flow and provide dimensional stability also make them difficult to recycle without sacrificing performance.
Multiscale adaptations underlie bite force variation in rodents
Abstract Bite force is a key metric of organismal performance, and expression of masticatory myosin (MHC-M) is associated with high bite force. However, skeletal muscles are multiscale structures, and it remains unclear how adaptations for force production are integrated across scales.

The HIPAA Security Rule, which establishes standards for the security of ePHI, was last updated in 2013.
Controlled patterning of crystalline domains by frontal polymerization - Nature
Abstract Materials with hierarchical architectures that combine soft and hard material domains with coalesced interfaces possess superior properties compared with their homogeneous counterparts1,2,3,4. These architectures in synthetic materials have been achieved through deterministic manufacturing strategies such as 3D printing, which require an a priori design and active intervention throughout the process to achieve architectures spanning multiple length scales5,6,7,8,9.
Shape-persistent ladder molecules exhibit nanogap-independent conductance in single-molecule junctions - Nature Chemistry
Abstract Molecular electronic devices require precise control over the flow of current in single molecules. However, the electron transport properties of single molecules critically depend on dynamic molecular conformations in nanoscale junctions. Here we report a unique strategy for controlling molecular conductance using shape-persistent molecules.
Correction: Dynein and Dynactin Leverage Their Bivalent Character to Form a High-Affinity Interaction
Loading metrics This correction addresses errors in Figs 2, 3 and S3 of [1]. Fig 2. Dynein intermediate chain minimal binding domain. A. Native PAGE indicates that residues 10–44 are sufficient for binding to p150Glued CC1. A gel shift indicates IC2C fragments spanning residues 1–124, 10–124 and 1–44 are capable of binding CC1 (indicated by arrows). However, fragments spanning 20–124 and 1–32 are not able to bind to CC1.

Ribosome-mediated biosynthesis of pyridazinone oligomers in vitro - Nature Communications
Abstract The ribosome is a macromolecular machine that catalyzes the sequence-defined polymerization of L-α-amino acids into polypeptides. The catalysis of peptide bond formation between amino acid substrates is based on entropy trapping, wherein the adjacency of transfer RNA (tRNA)-coupled acyl bonds in the P-site and the α-amino groups in the A-site aligns the substrates for coupling.

The Effect of Tropomyosin Mutations on Actin-Tropomyosin Binding: In Search of Lost Time
Abstract The initial binding of tropomyosin onto actin filaments and then its polymerization into continuous cables on the filament surface must be precisely tuned to overall thin filament structure, function and performance. Low-affinity interaction of tropomyosin with actin has to be sufficiently strong to localize the tropomyosin on actin, yet not so tight that regulatory movement on filaments is curtailed.
A unified model for microtubule rescue
INTRODUCTION Transitions between microtubule polymerization and depolymerization involve major structural rearrangements at the microtubule end. During polymerization, incoming tubulin subunits first form longitudinal interactions to generate curved protofilaments that extend from the microtubule end, and then form lateral interactions with neighboring protofilaments to straighten into the coherent microtubule lattice (McIntosh et al., 2018).
A new twist on tropomyosin binding to actin filaments: perspectives on thin filament function, assembly and biomechanics
Article First Online: 15 February 2019 Abstract Tropomyosin, best known for its role in the steric regulation of muscle contraction, polymerizes head-to-tail to form cables localized along the length of both muscle and non-muscle actin-based thin filaments.
Sterile particle-induced inflammation is mediated by macrophages releasing IL-33 through a Bruton’s tyrosine kinase-dependent pathway
Abstract Initiation of the innate sterile inflammatory response that can develop in response to microparticle exposure is little understood. Here, we report that a potent type 2 immune response associated with the accumulation of neutrophils, eosinophils and alternatively activated (M2) macrophages was observed in response to sterile microparticles similar in size to wear debris associated with prosthetic implants.
Washboard and fluted terrains on Pluto as evidence for ancient glaciation
Abstract Distinctive landscapes termed ‘washboard’ and ‘fluted’ terrains1,2, which border the N2 ice plains of Sputnik Planitia along its northwest margin, are among the most enigmatic landforms yet seen on Pluto. These terrains consist of parallel to sub-parallel ridges that display a remarkably consistent east-northeast–west-southwest orientation—a configuration that does not readily point to a simple analogous terrestrial or planetary process or landform.

Cingulin and actin mediate midbody-dependent apical lumen formation during polarization of epithelial cells
During de novo lumen formation the AMIS is established at the midbody during late telophase, marking the site of a future apical lumen1, 7 (Fig. 1a). Following AMIS formation, Rab11/FIP5 apical endosomes are transported to the AMIS (Fig. 1a)1, 6. What is not known are the mechanisms that target Rab11/FIP5 vesicles to the AMIS. To identify these targeting factors we immunoprecipitated FIP5 from polarized Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells (Supplementary Fig. 1a).

Questions Corporate Counsel Should Ask to Get Maximum Value from E-Discovery
The volume of electronic data and the costs involved in collecting, culling and reviewing electronically stored information (ESI) are critical considerations in any litigation, large or small. Parties to a lawsuit are inevitably faced with significant litigation costs, due in large part to the burden of responding to overly broad discovery requests relating to ESI.
