Network toxicology and machine learning analysis of MC-LR-associated hepatocellular carcinoma
Abstract Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), a hepatotoxic aquatic contaminant classified by IARC as a Group 2B carcinogen, was investigated using an integrated network toxicology and machine learning framework to explore potential molecular mechanisms underlying MC-LR-related hepatocarcinogenesis. By integrating GEO transcriptomic datasets, differential expression analysis, WGCNA, and predicted MC-LR targets, we identified 24 candidate genes potentially associated with MC-LR-related HCC.
Integrated analysis identifies myostatin as a potential biomarker and functional regulator in glioma
|
Abstract Myostatin (MSTN), a member of the TGF-β superfamily, is recognized for its role in regulating muscle growth and cancer cachexia, but its involvement in glioma remains unclear. We examined MSTN expression and its clinical significance in glioma using public datasets and single-cell sequencing data. Immunohistochemistry and western blot further supported elevated MSTN protein levels in GBM tissues and cell lines.

Investigating the effects and underlying mechanisms of glycosylation sites on the immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccines
Abstract Glycosylation plays a pivotal role in modulating the structure and immunogenicity of viral antigens. Three glycosylation sites on the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2, including N331, N343 (N-linked), and T323 (O-linked), are highly conserved and remain unchanged across multiple variant strains.
Consistent cortico-basal ganglia-cerebellar activation in early motor sequence learning: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract This study aims to systematically investigate activation in brain regions during early-stage motor sequence learning (MSL) and to identify convergent neural activation patterns, thereby advancing our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying MSL.

Quantitative Targeted Analysis of Antibody Fc Glycosylation by Glyco-MRM
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! The N-glycoforms of Fc domain critically regulate binding affinity of IgG1 to Fcγ receptor IIIA (FcγRIIIa), Fcγ receptor IIb (FcγRIIb), and complement components. Quantifying antigen-specific IgG1 glycopeptides may provide precise insights into the pathogenesis of severe viral infections and autoantibody-mediated diseases.

Loss of tumor suppressors promotes inflammatory tumor microenvironment and enhances LAG3+T cell mediated immune suppression - Nature Communications
Abstract Low response rate, treatment relapse, and resistance remain key challenges for cancer treatment with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB). Here we report that loss of specific tumor suppressors (TS) induces an inflammatory response and promotes an immune suppressive tumor microenvironment. Importantly, low expression of these TSs is associated with a higher expression of immune checkpoint inhibitory mediators.
Targeting NRAS via miR-1304-5p or farnesyltransferase inhibition confers sensitivity to ALK inhibitors in ALK-mutant neuroblastoma - Nature Communications
Abstract Targeting Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) is a promising therapeutic strategy for aberrant ALK-expressing malignancies including neuroblastoma, but resistance to ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors (ALK TKI) is a distinct possibility necessitating drug combination therapeutic approaches.
Symbol-level fiber-longitudinal power profile estimation
Symbol-level fiber-longitudinal power profile estimation (PPE) greatly reduces the implementation complexity compared with the waveform-level PPE using oversampled data. However, symbol-rate data cannot account for the inter-sample interaction, which leads to inaccuracy of the absolute power estimation.

Attribute-Based Encryption for Circuits of Unbounded Depth from Lattices: Garbled Circuits of Optimal Size, Laconic Functional Evaluation, and More
Paper 2023/1716 , University of Washington , University of Washington , University of Washington Although we have known about fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) from circular security assumptions for over a decade [Gentry, STOC '09; Brakerski–Vaikuntanathan, FOCS '11], there is still a significant gap in understanding related homomorphic primitives supporting all *unrestricted* polynomial-size computations. One prominent example is attribute-based encryption (ABE).
Spatial and Temporal Variations in Soil Moisture for a Tamarisk Stand under Groundwater Control in a Hyper-Arid Region
4. Discussion 4.1. Quasi-Steady-State Upward Flow of Soil Water under Hyper-Arid Climate Although the climate is extremely arid in the study area, the soil layers below a depth of 0.5 m still maintain abundant soil water (Figure 4). The occurrence of high SWC in the soil layer under the hyper-arid climate was mainly due to the weak soil evaporation, while the water consumption by the tamarisk in this area was mainly from groundwater [44].

Geometric and Electronic Structure‐Matched Superoxide Dismutase‐Like and Catalase‐Like Sequential Single‐Atom Nanozymes for Osteoarthritis Recession
Abstract Highly-active single-atom nanoenzymes (SAzymes) with biomimetic geometric and electronic coordination structures are highly highlighted to exhibit greatly-increased catalysis activity. Despite various SAzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like SAzymes for scavenging superoxide anions to treat osteoarthritis are still absent. In this report, a graphene-supported ClCuN4-centered SAzyme (CuN4ClG) is engineered that carries out SOD-like reactions.

The Pseudorandom Oracle Model and Ideal Obfuscation
Paper 2022/1204 The Pseudorandom Oracle Model and Ideal Obfuscation , Carnegie Mellon University , University of Washington , University of Washington , Northeastern University, NTT Research Abstract We introduce a new idealized model of hash functions, which we refer to as the *pseudorandom oracle* (PrO) model. Intuitively, it allows us to model cryptosystems that use the code of a hash function in a non-black-box way.
Ad Hoc (Decentralized) Broadcast, Trace, and Revoke
Paper 2022/925 Ad Hoc (Decentralized) Broadcast, Trace, and Revoke , University of Washington Abstract Traitor tracing schemes [Chor–Fiat–Naor, Crypto ’94] help content distributors fight against piracy and are defined with the content distributor as a trusted authority having access to the secret keys of all users. While the traditional model caters well to its original motivation, its centralized nature makes it unsuitable for many scenarios.

Underestimated Sink of Atmospheric Mercury in a Deglaciated Forest Chronosequence
Mercury (Hg) deposition through litterfall has been regarded as the main input of gaseous elemental mercury (Hg0) into forest ecosystems. We hypothesize that earlier studies largely underestimated this sink because the contribution of Hg0 uptake by moss and the downward transport to wood and throughfall is overlooked.
Evaluation of physicochemical properties and volatile compounds of Chinese dried pork loin curing with plasma-treated water brine
Abstract The application of dielectric barrier discharge cold plasma (DBD-CP)-treated water as a novel curing process for manufacturing Chinese dried pork loin was investigated. The treatment time of DBD-CP was optimized based on the pH and nitrite level of the plasma-treated water (PTW). PTW treated for 3 min had an alkaline environment and a higher nitrite content than that at the other lengths of treatment time.
