1 Introduction Advances in genomics and in our ability to analyse and interpret genomic data have revolutionized our understanding of how new species arise (Bock et al. 2023; Seehausen et al. 2014). These developments have also democratized the study of speciation by enabling research on long-lived organisms, those difficult to culture in laboratory or greenhouse settings, or those that are challenging to mate (Delmore et al. 2024).
Adaptive personalization for wearable non-invasive continuous glucose sensors
Abstract Accurate continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is essential for diabetes management, yet non-invasive CGM remains challenging. Universal “one-sensor-fits-all” approaches often fail, because correlations between non-invasive physiological readouts and blood glucose (BG) are highly individualized.

Mobility-aware Lyapunov-guided deep reinforcement offloading for wearable edge computing
Abstract Wearable devices (WDs) are becoming an important platform for mobile intelligent services, but their limited battery capacity and computing power make continuous local inference difficult. Existing MEC offloading methods often assume fixed edge association or jointly optimize all offloading variables in a single control space, which makes it difficult to adapt to user mobility while preserving queue-aware resource control.
Capacity constrained allocation of elderly care resources using predicted individual demand
Abstract Population aging has become a major social issue worldwide. Efficient and equitable allocation of elderly care resources under limited supply has therefore become a central concern in academia and policy. This study develops an analytical framework that links deep learning demand prediction with capacity-constrained resource allocation.
Dispersion transition entropy: dual-modal feature fusion based on global attention mechanism for time series feature representation
Abstract A new entropy measure-Dispersion transition entropy (DTE) has been proposed for the analysis of complex dynamic signals in mechanical fault diagnosis. The DTE method combines the static pattern analysis of Dispersion Entropy (Normalization cumulative distribution function-based symbolic mapping) with the dynamic interval characterization of Global ordinal pattern attention entropy (GOPAE), enabling enhanced feature extraction under noisy conditions.

Experimental and numerical study on the mechanical behaviour of CRTS III slab tracks during the self-compacting concrete casting process
ABSTRACT The casting of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is crucial for the safe operation of China Railway Track System type III (CRTS III) slab tracks. To elucidate the track structure’s mechanical behavior during construction, a full-scale experiment was conducted, and a coupled discrete element method (DEM) and multi-flexible body dynamics (MFBD) model was established. SCC flow, alongside track slab buoyancy, displacement, and deformation, was systematically analyzed.
Plant electrophysiological characteristics reveal the leaf intracellular nutrient metabolism and stress tolerance underlying Se(IV)-mediated alleviation of polyethylene stress in Plantago asiatica
ABSTRACT Leaf intracellular nutrient metabolism plays a critical role in determining plant stress tolerance. Selenium(IV) supplied as sodium selenite (Na2SeO3; SeO3 2−) has been reported to enhance plant resistance to polyethylene (PE, microplastics), yet its effects on intracellular nutrient metabolism under PE stress remain unclear. Plantain (Plantago asiatica L.) was exposed to PE (1500 mg kg−1) and supplemented with Se(IV) at 0, 1.25, 2.5, 12.5, and 25 mg kg−1 (as Na2SeO3).
Precision-engineered STING agonist nanoparticles enable coordinated mucosal-systemic immunity for durable pan-β-coronavirus protection

Eight-year disease-free survival in clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra with surgery alone: a case report and literature review
Abstract We report a 39-year-old woman with clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra (CCAU). She was treated with surgery alone and has survived 8 years without recurrence. The patient had painless hematuria. Imaging showed a 5.1 cm urethral mass. The tumor invaded the bladder and vagina (clinical stage T3N2M0). Urine cytology confirmed the diagnosis, which is unusual for CCAU. She underwent laparoscopic radical cystectomy, lymph node dissection, and cutaneous ureterostomy.

A metabolic alarmin from keratinocytes potentiates systemic humoral immunity
|
Abstract How a local infection triggers systemic humoral immunity remains unclear. Here we identify farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP), a mevalonate pathway metabolic intermediate1, as an endogenous alarmin that enhances IgG antibody responses through keratinocyte-derived IL-6 and CCL20. This signalling axis potentiates the differentiation of T follicular helper cells and migratory dendritic cells2,3.

Artificial intelligence-enabled “inherited noninvasive intracellular recording” for prolonged monitoring of cardiac action potentials
Abstract Intracellular action potential (AP) recording that allows long-term monitoring is challenging because permanent membrane penetration is impossible due to cell death or resealing of perforated cell membrane. Herein, an “inherited noninvasive intracellular recording” methodology was proposed, which was based on the fusion of artificial intelligence (AI) with microelectrode array (MEA)–electroporation system (AI-MEA-EP) to enable prolonged monitoring of intracellular APs in cardiomyocytes.

Programmed ribosomal frameshifting during PLEKHM2 mRNA decoding generates a constitutively active proteoform that supports myocardial function
Abstract Programmed ribosomal frameshifting is a process where a proportion of ribosomes change their reading frame on an mRNA. While frameshifting is commonly used by viruses, very few phylogenetically conserved examples are known in nuclear encoded genes. Here, we report a +1 frameshifting event during decoding of the human gene PLEKHM2 that provides access to a second internally overlapping ORF.
