Demographic, Clinicopathological Characteristics, and Prognosis of 81 Chinese Elderly Patients With Acral Melanoma
1 Introduction Acral melanoma (AM) is a rare subtype of melanoma that typically occurs on the palms, soles, and nail beds [1]. It is the most common form of melanoma among Asian populations, accounting for 47.5%–65% of all melanoma cases [2, 3]. AM diagnosed at later stages, combined with its unique biological characteristics, generally results in a poorer prognosis compared to cutaneous melanoma [4-10].
Assessment of the quality and reliability of public health communication about hypertension on short video platforms in China
Abstract Background: Hypertension is one of the major modifiable cardiovascular risk factors in China. Persistent and poorly controlled hypertension contributes to a wide spectrum of adverse cardiovascular outcomes, yet public awareness and understanding of the condition remain suboptimal. With the rapid expansion of digital media, social platforms have emerged as important channels for disseminating health information.

Low-dose baricitinib plus danazol in primary immune thrombocytopenia: a randomized, controlled phase 2 trial
|
Abstract This multicenter, randomized, controlled study was conducted to explore the safety and efficacy of low-dose baricitinib plus danazol for ITP patients who had failed corticosteroids and at least one recommended subsequent treatment. Participants were randomly assigned to receive baricitinib plus danazol (n = 108) or danazol alone (n = 108) by a central, interactive web-based system. Patients and caregivers were not blinded to group assignment.

Coastal groundwater phosphorus drives global acceleration of algal blooms
|
Abstract Coastal algal blooms (CABs) are accelerating worldwide. This intensification is particularly puzzling in regions where nitrogen inputs have been curbed, yet blooms persist or worsen. Here we reveal excess dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) from coastal groundwater as a critical, previously overlooked driver.

Case Report: Pediatric MOG/NMDAR overlap syndrome with delayed cortical MRI evolution and incidental venous sinus hypoplasia
Abstract Background: Pediatric overlap of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) and anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis (MNOS) is uncommon. At onset, such cases may resemble infectious or vascular disorders, leading to premature diagnostic closure and delayed immunotherapy.
Global mining has undermined forest conservation within and beyond protected areas
|
Abstract Protected areas are widely regarded as a cornerstone of global forest conservation, yet growing mineral demand intensifies mining pressure on them. Here, we present a global assessment of mining-induced forest loss within and beyond protected areas from 2001 to 2020. We find that approximately 11% (~1372 km2) of global mining-induced forest loss occurs within protected areas, with this proportion increasing to ~19% during 2016–2020.

An autonomous AI agent for knowledge and data cooperation in ED clinical decision support
|
Abstract Medical knowledge accumulation and clinical practice form a closed loop, yet enabling effective cooperation between the two elements, namely autonomously distilling updated knowledge from dynamic data to guide practice, remains challenging, especially in the emergency department (ED). To overcome this, we developed an autonomous AI agent that integrates established medical knowledge graphs with dynamic clinical data into a hybrid graph of over 800,000 nodes.

Lysine acetyltransferase 8-mediated histone acetylation, regulated by GBA1, is associated with lysosomal function related to α-Synuclein pathology
|
Abstract Lysosomal defects are closely linked to Parkinson’s disease (PD). Mutations in the GBA1 gene, encoding the lysosomal enzyme glucocerebrosidase (GCase), are major genetic risk factors for PD. GBA1 deficiency causes lysosomal dysfunction, leading to α-synuclein (α-syn) accumulation and PD progression. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we identified a novel GBA1-KAT8 regulatory pathway that controls lysosomal activity.

RUNX2 drives adenoma-to-carcinoma transition in colon cancer
|
Abstract Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), the most common subtype of colon cancer, often arises from adenomas. However, the mechanisms driving the adenoma-to-adenocarcinoma transition remain unclear, hindering early intervention and treatment. Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed that CD8+ exhausted T cells (Tex) were significantly enriched in adenoma and carcinoma tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Machine learning driven discovery of low modulus biomedical titanium alloys for additive manufacturing
Abstract Designing alloys for additive manufacturing opens opportunities for next-generation biomedical orthopaedic implants. However, most biomedical alloys currently in use are legacy compositions that cannot fully harness the potential of additive manufacturing. Here, we present a machine-learning-driven computational framework for discovering additive-manufacturing-specific β-titanium alloys with low modulus, optimised printability, mechanical and corrosion properties, and biocompatibility.

Hypoxia-induced BTN3A2 promotes glioma progression and chemoresistance via AKT/SP1/RAD51-mediated DNA damage
|
Abstract Glioma remains a highly aggressive malignancy with frequent recurrence and resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. BTN3A2 is a multifunctional regulatory protein originally implicated in γδ T-cell–mediated immune responses, yet its tumor-intrinsic role and mechanistic relevance in glioma are poorly defined. Here, BTN3A2 expression and prognostic associations were assessed in TCGA and CGGA cohorts and further validated by immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays.

Abstract To investigate the long-term creep behavior of deep granite in geological repositories for high-level radioactive waste under coupled temperature and stress conditions, a full-time temperature–stress coupled creep damage constitutive model (TSD model) was developed. The model incorporates a temperature-induced damage factor \({D}_{T}\), a stress-induced damage factor \({D}_{S}\), and a coupled damage factor \({D}_{TS}\).

One- and two-dimensional cluster states for topological phase simulation and measurement-based quantum computation

Abstract Quantum entanglement is a fundamental resource for quantum information processing and serves as a critical benchmark for quantum hardware performance. Cluster states are a special class of entangled states that serve as universal resources for measurement-based quantum computation and possess an intrinsic symmetry-protected topological order, which confers robustness against symmetry-respecting noise.
