BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - WBRC has confirmed one of the companies involved in the massive and controversial data center project in Bessemer. A spokesperson with QTS Data Centers tells WBRC that the company is pursuing plans for a proposed data center campus on the Project Marvel site in Bessemer. Our partners at the Birmingham Business Journal report the land for Project Marvel was recently purchased by a top private equity firm in deals worth more than $870 million.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - Union leaders are speaking out about the closure of the longtime BFGoodrich plant in Tuscaloosa. The shutdown in 2028 is expected to hit families and the local economy hard. The United Steelworkers Union represents about 1,000 workers at the Tuscaloosa plant. USW says it will demand to bargain with the company over the effects of the decision to close the 80-year-old facility. The union says it will use every tool it has to protect workers’ rights and benefits.
