Family history of cancer and risk of lung cancer: a retrospective cohort study in a Chinese population
Abstract Background: Family history of cancer is an established risk factor for lung cancer, but its association with the probability of malignancy among patients evaluated for pulmonary nodules—rather than with population-level lung cancer incidence—remains poorly characterized in Chinese populations.
All electrical sub-nanosecond field-free switching of perpendicular magnetization with high magnetic field immunity
Abstract Spin-orbit torque magnetic random-access memory is a promising next-generation non-volatile memory technology featuring low power consumption, rapid operation, and high endurance. Conventional spin-orbit torque-induced deterministic perpendicular magnetization switching, however, typically requires the assistance of an external magnetic field. While multiple field-free switching strategies have been demonstrated, most suffer from significant limitations.
Remarkable Tribological Properties of AlMgB 14 Ceramic at Extreme Temperatures Enabled by In Situ Formed Environmentally Adaptive Liquid Lubricating Films
1 Introduction Friction and wear are major causes of energy dissipation, material wastage, and mechanical system failure [1-4]. It remains an ongoing challenge to design and seek the materials with favorable lubricity and ultra-low wear for extreme environments, where traditional liquid lubricants are not functional [5-10]. Extreme high temperature is one of the harshest conditions in engineering applications.

Targeted AAV6 gene therapy restores corneal endothelial function in three hereditary corneal dystrophies
Results The commonly used intracameral injection (traditional anterior chamber [AC] injection) in previous mouse studies requires needle entry at the limbus and the formation of a relatively long tunnel along the corneal stroma to minimize post-injection leakage (Figures 1A and 1B ).13,15,16 The limited anterior chamber volume restricts the total injection amount, and transient intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation is inevitable during the procedure.

SMC for Discrete Singular Semi‐Markov Switching Systems With Bilateral Dwell Time
This work investigates the sliding mode control (SMC) for discrete singular semi-Markov switching systems with bilateral dwell time (DT). Bilateral DT constraints are explicitly incorporated into the stability analysis, thus generalizing the existing results under unilateral constraints. Owing to time-varying singular matrix in the system, a stable state feedback strategy is designed in the controller design.

Observer‐Based Bumpless Transfer Control for Discrete‐Time Hidden Semi‐Markov Jump Systems
This paper focuses on the observer-based bumpless transfer control for discrete-time hidden semi-Markov jump systems. Since it is challenging to acquire the actual modal characteristics of the system in the practical environment, a hidden semi-Markov chain is utilized to characterize the system modeling. At the same time, a bumpless transfer controller is designed to damp the disturbances in the control input, guaranteeing smooth characteristics during switching and operation.

Non‐Fragile Sampled‐Data Path Following Control of Autonomous Electric Vehicles With Semi‐Markov Jump Actuator Failures: Tackling Complex Transition Rates
This paper addresses the non-fragile sampled-data control problem for path following of autonomous electric vehicles (AEVs) with semi-Markov jump actuator failures. Firstly, due to the uncertainty of tire dynamics, linear fractional transformation formulations are used to describe the lateral dynamics of AEVs. Secondly, to accurately depict the stochastic actuator failures, the proposed actuator failures model incorporates a semi-Markov jump process with partially unknown transition rates.

Radiotherapy promotes cuproptosis and synergizes with cuproptosis inducers to overcome tumor radioresistance
|
Results The involvement of cuproptosis in RT remains unclear. We observed a dose-dependent increase in intracellular copper levels following RT in cancer cells (Figure 1A), suggesting a potential link between RT and cuproptosis. The inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis further confirmed that RT induced an increase in copper concentrations in cancer cells (Figure 1B).
