Industrializing reactive capture of CO 2
Abstract Electrified CO2 capture and conversion technologies support the energy transition by producing low-carbon chemicals and fuels, but near-term deployment depends on integration with current energy infrastructure. Reactive capture of CO2 (RCC) feeds CO2-rich liquids directly into an electrolyser, bypassing thermal regeneration and simplifying process integration.
Oral nano-delivery of a gut microbial metabolite enhances T cell stemness for cancer immunotherapy
|
Abstract Gut microbial metabolites play crucial roles in regulating systemic immunity, but their mechanisms and limited drug-like properties remain unresolved. Here we report an oral nano-formulation that leverages gut microbial metabolites to modulate T cell metabolism and amplify antitumour immunity.

In situ particle-to-fibre transformation of hydrogels for 3D printing
Abstract Structural anisotropy is ubiquitous in nature and governs orientation-dependent properties and functions1,2. Recreating biomimetic anisotropy in hydrogels—water-rich soft materials widely used in biomedicine—has proven challenging3. Here we report a phenomenon termed shear-extensional in situ particle-to-fibre transformation (SHIFT) and demonstrate the SHIFT printing of highly aligned hydrogel microfibres (5–30 μm in diameter).

Functional Connectivity of Auditory, Motor, and Reward Networks at Rest and During Music Listening
Background/Objectives: Music engages multiple brain networks simultaneously, yet most studies examine these networks in isolation. Methods: We investigated functional connectivity among auditory, motor, and reward networks during music listening in different contexts using fMRI data from two samples (N=39 each): focused music listening and background music during cognitive tasks.
An organ-wide spatiotemporal transcriptomic and cellular atlas of the regenerating zebrafish heart - Nature Communications
Abstract Adult zebrafish robustly regenerate injured hearts through a complex orchestration of molecular and cellular activities. However, this remarkable process, which is largely non-existent in humans, remains incompletely understood. Here, we utilize integrated spatial transcriptomics (Stereo-seq) and single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) to generate a spatially-resolved molecular and cellular atlas of regenerating zebrafish heart across eight stages.

Hundred-watt-level supercontinuum generation from an erbium-ytterbium doped fiber amplifier based on the cross-phase modulation
The pumping mechanism based on the cross-phase modulation (XPM) effect can achieve a flat broadband supercontinuum (SC) output. In this paper, we demonstrate a novel, to the best of our knowledge, scheme for SC generation from a large mode area (LMA) erbium–ytterbium co-doped fiber (EYDF) amplifier based on this XPM effect by utilizing both the gain and dispersion characteristics of the EYDF, achieving a hundred-watt-level flat broadband SC output.
Single-cell transcriptome atlas of lamprey exploring Natterin- induced white adipose tissue browning - Nature Communications
Abstract Lampreys are early jawless vertebrates that are the key to understanding the evolution of vertebrates. However, the lack of cytomic studies on multiple lamprey organs has hindered progress in this field. Therefore, the present study constructed a comprehensive cell atlas comprising 604,460 cells/nuclei and 70 cell types from 14 lamprey tissue samples. Comparison of cellular evolution across species revealed that most lamprey cell types are homologous to those in jawed vertebrates.

Ni@C nanowires enabled photothermal membrane for highly efficient solar-driven interfacial water purification
Ni@C nanowires enabled photothermal membrane for highly efficient solar-driven interfacial water purification Ni@C nanowires were in-situ grown with about 5 nm nickel particles uniformly distributed along the one-dimensional framework. By assembling to a membrane, Ni@C exhibited 95.7% solar spectral absorption and a high water interfacial evaporation rate of 2.38 kg·m−2·h−1 under one sun. Superhydrophobic modification further enabled the long-term stable saline water evaporation.
Inulin-gel-based oral immunotherapy remodels the small intestinal microbiome and suppresses food allergy - Nature Materials
Abstract Despite the potential of oral immunotherapy against food allergy, adverse reactions and loss of desensitization hinder its clinical uptake. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota is implicated in the increasing prevalence of food allergy, which will need to be regulated to enable for an effective oral immunotherapy against food allergy.
Consistent signatures in the human gut microbiome of old- and young-onset colorectal cancer - Nature Communications
Abstract The incidence of young-onset colorectal cancer (yCRC) has been increasing in recent decades, but little is known about the gut microbiome of these patients. Most studies have focused on old-onset CRC (oCRC), and it remains unclear whether CRC signatures derived from old patients are valid in young patients. To address this, we assembled the largest yCRC gut metagenomes to date from two independent cohorts and found that the CRC microbiome had limited association with age across adulthood.

Ce3+-doped alkaline-earth sulfide nanocrystals for X-ray scintillation imaging screens
Ce3+-doped alkaline-earth sulfide nanocrystals for X-ray scintillation imaging screens Rare-earth Ce3+-doped scintillators are attracting considerable attention for X-ray detection. However, large-area and fast scintillation screens using monodispersed scintillator nanocrystals (NCs) remains a challenge in X-ray imaging. Herein, we fabricated Ce3+-doped alkaline-earth metal sulfide NCs by a high-temperature co-precipitation method.

Multiple Energy Transfer Channels in Rare Earth Doped Multi‐Exciton Emissive Perovskites
1 Introduction Self-trapped excitons (STEs) widely exist in alkali metal halide crystals, silica, and simple organic molecular crystals, and form in the excited-state, where electron–phonon coupling is strong enough for excited electrons and holes to severely deform the lattice to create a potential well and trap the excitons in it.[1-5] Particularly in past few years, STEs play a leading function in improving the optical property of lead-free perovskites, which usually display low...
Antibiotic nanoparticles boost antitumor immunity - Nature Biotechnology
Liposomes loaded with antibiotics eliminate intracellular bacteria in a colorectal cancer model, unleashing antitumor T cell immunity. In cancer immunotherapy, stimulation of antitumor T cell responses requires recognition between T cell receptors and tumor-derived epitopes presented by the major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I)2. However, tumors with a low mutational burden have few neoantigens, which limits the repertoire of antitumor T cells3.
Flavivirus Concentrates Host ER in Main Replication Compartments to Facilitate Replication
1 Introduction Both DNA and RNA viruses establish replication compartments (RCs, or replication organelles/factories) to create environments that facilitate viral genome replication.[1, 2] Many RNA viruses remodel cellular organelles to generate membranous vesicles as viral RCs for efficient viral replication and evasion of host immune recognition and intervention3] The endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the central hub of protein and lipid biosynthesis in the cell, is often hijacked by...

Host potassiophilicity strategy for unprecedentedly stable and safe K metal batteries
Host potassiophilicity strategy for unprecedentedly stable and safe K metal batteries Zhibin Li, Liang Ma, Kai Han, Yingying Ji, Junpeng Xie, Likun Pan, Jinliang Li and Wenjie Mai Abstract Creating high-performance host materials for potassium (K) metal anodes remains a significant challenge due to the complex preparation process and poor K reversibility. In our work, we developed a potassiophilicity strategy by oxygen-modified carbon cloth (O-CC) network as a host for K metal anodes.
