I didn't grow up always knowing I wanted to be a journalist. Truthfully, when I was little, I really wanted to be a ballerina. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a neuroscientist (until I realized I'm extremely squeamish, and blood was not for me let alone brain matter).

PEORIA (25News Now) - A 43-year-old man accused of posing as a Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputy will stay in jail until his trial. Dennis Walker, who is also known as Josh Coats, was charged with false presentation of a peace officer and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. According to court documents, on May 27, 2026, a driver was stopped on Plank Road, between Bellevue Avenue and Maxwell Road by an unmarked Ford Explorer with two red and blue lights mounted on the dashboard.

Bloomington agrees to 6-month halt on data centers

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) - The Bloomington City Council has unanimously approved a six-month moratorium on data center projects. Tuesday night’s action means Bloomington will not allow any applications to be submitted for data centers using 5 or more megawatts of power while city leaders research their impacts and develop regulations. Previously, data centers were treated like warehouses under city code, with no restrictions for how they’re built or used.

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) - Members of the Central Illinois Islamic community reacted to the attack on a San Diego mosque Monday. Friday afternoon, members of the community joined worshippers at Islamic center of McLean County for their Jumu’ah prayer - a weekly service typically held around midday Fridays. The Associated Press reported on Monday, two gunmen approached the Islamic Center of San Diego and opened fire.
