UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball freshman forward Kaitlyn Geurink (Hamilton, Mich. / Hamilton HS) was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Geurink is the sixth Cardinal to earn Freshman of the Year honors and the first since Kaitlyn Zarycki in 2019-20. She is joined by Lydia Meredith (Portland, Mich. / Portland St. Patrick's HS) and Megan McCalla (Chelsea, Mich. / Chelsea HS), who both earned Second-Team All-GLIAC honors.

Cardinals’ Season Ends With Loss at Wayne State

DETROIT – The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team saw its postseason hopes come to an end Saturday afternoon with a road loss at Wayne State with a final score of 94-78. Combined with Lake Superior State's win at Purdue Northwest, the Cardinals (7-21, 5-15 GLIAC) are officially eliminated from GLIAC Tournament contention. Lydia Meredith (Portland, Mich. / Portland St. Patrick's HS) led the team with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team kept its postseason hopes alive Thursday evening with a pivotal road victory at Purdue Northwest, moving one step closer to clinching a spot in the GLIAC Tournament. The night was made even more special as Megan McCalla (Chelsea, Mich. / Chelsea HS) surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her collegiate career. McCalla led all players with 24 points and eight rebounds.
