How Our Shipaton App Made $22K in It’s First Month
Since finding out I was going to become a dad, my emotions were a mix of excitement and a sense of feeling woefully unprepared for what’s about to come. Nobody teaches you how to prepare for becoming a father, so you’re left scrambling, trying to research everything you can, only to find everything is designed to help the woman navigate pregnancy. So I built what I wish I had. Check it out for yourself here. It seemed like others agreed too.

A validated toolkit for access and participation evaluation (TAPE)
ABSTRACT Over recent decades, governments in England have set out to address gaps in social mobility. In part, this has been supported through widening participation (WP) regulation, policy and programmes aiming to increase the proportions of under-represented groups entering higher education (HE). Evidence of “what works” in closing gaps in HE participation remains limited.
Philanthropy’s Role in Ensuring Renewable Power Creates Good Jobs and Community Benefits
Philanthropy is in a unique position to use its resources and bridge-building power to leverage billions of federal climate dollars to create more equitable local economies and jobs. But funders must act nimbly, and now, to do so. The federal government is pouring money into the clean energy transition, like the $27 billion recently announced under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

Solutions for Prioritizing Investment in California’s Critical Water Infrastructure - Capitol Weekly
Opinion by posted Twitter Facebook Email OPINION – We’ve all heard the line from the famous poem “water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink.” While that poem was about a sailor in the high seas surrounded by undrinkable ocean water, the same can be said about California’s inability to capture, store and move water due to our outdated and inadequate system of infrastructure. Indeed, California experienced the wettest January on record and the deepest snowpack in decades.
Marketing Lessons Learned From The Grammy's
The 65th annual Grammy Awards returned Sunday night delivering big-name performances from contemporary stars, newcomers, and iconic veterans alike. It was also a night full of history as Beyonce became the artist with the most Grammys ever (32!) while Sam Smith and Kim Petras became the first nonbinary and transgender artists, respectively, to win the best pop duo/group performance.
Sacramento leaders can build climate resilience and our economy. Here’s how | Opinion
The severe storms that battered our state in recent weeks are a stark reminder that climate change isn’t a theory but an active, urgent threat. Californians who struggle the most in our economy are the hardest hit by dramatic changes in our climate. This is no accident: Decades of systemic racism and classism have led to neglected infrastructure and economic opportunity in communities of color and low-income areas.

Column: California's innovation centers need to stretch beyond Silicon Valley
Today, the COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating long simmering unemployment trends precipitated by pre-pandemic advancements in technology and automation. While automation has enhanced productivity, it has also eliminated jobs and reshaped the skills needed for others. Although these disruptive forces impacting the workforce are not new, they do exacerbate long-standing social inequities embedded in our pre-COVID economic landscape.

From recovery to resilience: Getting post-COVID infrastructure right Original
The coronavirus pandemic is ravaging the U.S. economy. Recovery efforts may present a singular moment to improve the country’s crumbling infrastructure in underserved communities, creating millions of jobs in the process. However, this pivotal undertaking can only succeed if we recognize that the fix for what ails us in infrastructure is not just a question of how much we spend, but how smart we buy.

Super BART (and Caltrain)
This app has everything! I just installed 2-3 apps for BART and found none of them had a schedule that extended beyond the next 30 minutes. Some were also difficult to navigate, presented confusing information, or didn't have an option to search for particular routes. This app has the system map, POI map, transportation prices (which no other app that I tried had!), all-day and up-next schedules, alerts, and more. Extremely happy that I found this.
