A novel muscle property score and its sex-specific associations with fatigue, physical activity, and nutrition in middle-aged adults
Abstract A single measure cannot adequately represent overall muscle health. Although muscle properties include structural, functional, and mechanical dimensions, an integrated metric combining muscle mass, strength, and mechanical properties is lacking. This study developed a composite muscle health index, the Total Score of Muscle Properties (TSMP), and examined its associations with fatigue, physical activity, and nutrient intake in middle-aged Japanese adults.
Process–structure relationships in LPBF-fabricated lattice interlocks for injection molded metal–polymer joining
Abstract Metal–polymer hybrid structures are increasingly required for lightweight and high-performance applications; however, conventional joining approaches based on chemical surface treatments suffer from poor reproducibility and limited design flexibility. In this study, a process-informed structural interlocking strategy using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF)-fabricated lattice architectures is proposed for injection molded direct joining.
First-in-human and multicenter phase I study of OSCA therapy for knee osteoarthritis

Adjustable Plasmonic Core-Shell Nanoparticles for Personalized Color Vision Correction
1 Introduction Color vision deficiency (CVD) is an inherited ocular disorder characterized by an impaired ability to distinguish specific colors due to variations in the activation of photoreceptor cones located in the retina.[1-3] These cones are categorized into three types based on their sensitivity to distinct wavelengths of light: short (S), medium (M), and long (L) cones, which correspond to blue, green, and red light, respectively (Figure 1a).
Yttrium-catalyzed growth of enriched (6, 4) and (6, 5) carbon nanotubes for their high-efficiency separation
The ultimate aim of material development lies in exploring its real-world applications. While the discovery of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) dates back over 30 years [1], [2], a significant gap remains between their initial exploration and the development of SWNT products that can meet the exacting demands of specific applications [3], [4]. For instance, creating an ideal logic circuit requires billions of semiconducting SWNTs with precisely the same chirality [5], [6].

Novel Approach for Glycemic Management Incorporating Vibration Stimulation of Skeletal Muscle in Obesity
Abstract : Because obesity is associated with impaired glucose tolerance and type 2 diabetes (T2D), it is important to manage the blood glucose level at an early stage. Nevertheless, people with obesity have significantly lower resistance to muscle fatigue after exercise and exercise adherence. Therefore, we developed a novel “Relaxing-Vibration Training (RVT)” consisting of 25 postures using vibration stimulation of skeletal muscle and determined the feasibility of RVT for glycemic management.

1. Introduction The functions of human tissues and organs deteriorate gradually with aging, and cellular damage or stress also leads to cell senescence, which further contributes to dysfunction in various tissues [1]. In addition, oxidants produced by mitochondria accumulate alongside aging and cause oxidative damage, which further accelerates the aging of cells and tissues [2].

Probing Trions at Chemically Tailored Trapping Defects
Trions, charged excitons that are reminiscent of hydrogen and positronium ions, have been intensively studied for energy harvesting, light-emitting diodes, lasing, and quantum computing applications because of their inherent connection with electron spin and dark excitons. However, these quasi-particles are typically present as a minority species at room temperature making it difficult for quantitative experimental measurements.
Ultrashort Carbon Nanotubes That Fluoresce Brightly in the Near-Infrared
The intrinsic near-infrared photoluminescence observed in long single-walled carbon nanotubes is known to be quenched in ultrashort nanotubes due to their tiny size as compared to the exciton diffusion length in these materials (>100 nm). Here, we show that intense photoluminescence can be created in ultrashort nanotubes (∼40 nm length) upon incorporation of exciton-trapping sp3 defect sites.
