Orthotopic liver xenotransplantation from gene-modified pig to decedent human
|
Abstract Xenotransplantation offers a critical solution to global organ shortages. Recent reports show that genetically engineered porcine livers can provide auxiliary metabolic support in human recipients and non-human primates. However, orthotopic pig-to-human liver xenotransplantation remained a challenge owing to the liver immunological and physiological complexity. Here we report the orthotopic pig-to-human liver xenotransplantation in a brain-deceased individual.

Ta‐Ag Coatings on TC4: A Strategy to Leverage Bioelectric Microenvironments for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity
1 Introduction Epidemiological data indicate that peri-implantitis affects approximately 22% of dental implants, presenting a significant challenge in clinical practice [1, 2]. This high prevalence often results in severe complications, including increased healthcare costs, extended patient recovery times, and even implant failure [3-5]. Actually, peri-implant infection may arise at all time points, starting from the moment at which implants are inserted [6-8].

Durable Proton Exchange Membrane Based on Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity for Fuel Cells
1 Introduction Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) have garnered considerable attention for their zero emissions and high energy conversion efficiency.[1, 2] High-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (HT-PEMFCs), operating in the range of 100–200 °C,[3] hold significant promise for practical applications.[4] Polybenzimidazole (PBI) is the predominant and most developed membrane material for HT-PEMFCs due to its exceptional chemical and thermal stability.[5] When doped with...
Chemerin's Role in Endometrial Dysfunction: Insights From Transcriptomic Analysis
1 Introduction Endometrium, the mucosal lining of the uterus, plays a vital role in receiving the embryo and maintaining the subsequent pregnancy [1]. For the woman at reproductive age, every month, endometrium dynamically changes at the molecular and structural level in response to fluctuations in ovarian sex hormones (mainly oestrogen and progesterone) across the menstrual cycle.

Impact of Polymer Topology on Physical Aging of Thin Film Composite Membranes Based on PIM-1, cPIM-1, and Associated Blends
Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! The archetypal polymer of intrinsic microporosity, PIM-1, has been extensively studied in membranes for gas separation applications since its initial report in 2004, (1) with self-standing membranes exhibiting a large scatter in initial CO2 permeability (typically 3000–9000 barrer) and CO2/N2 selectivity (12–28) across different studies (Figure S1 and Table S1).

Designing UAV Charging Framework for Forest Area with Microgrid
1. Introduction Forest fires are disasters for animals and plant resources in the forest, which also cause devastating losses for the entire forest ecosystem. Extinguishing the initial fire is the key to forest fire prevention, which requires the monitoring and timely detection of forest fires. At present, the commonly used forest fire monitoring methods mainly include artificial ground patrol, watchtower lookout, a fire-watch system, aviation patrol, and satellite monitoring [1,2,3,4,5].

Effect of Temperature-Induced Aging on the Gas Permeation Behavior of Thin Film Composite Membranes of PIM-1 and Carboxylated PIM-1
1. Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) make up a class of highly glassy polymers, which were first reported by Budd and McKeown in 2004. (1) The highly rigid and contorted polymer backbone endows PIMs with very high free volume, and thus high gas permeabilities and reasonable gas pair selectivities, making PIMs ideal membrane materials for postcombustion carbon capture (2) and natural gas sweetening.

Pulsed electric field‐assisted extraction of hesperidin from tangerine peel and its technological optimization through response surface methodology
Background Tangerine peel is rich in flavonoids, particularly hesperidin, which has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer biological activities. However, it is often wasted during citrus processing. The current common extraction method for hesperidin is solvent extraction, which has the characteristics of low extraction rate and high contamination.

High Gas Permeability in Aged Superglassy Membranes with Nanosized UiO‐66−NH2/cPIM‐1 Network Fillers
Introduction Compared to other technologies, membrane-based separations possess several advantages, which include high efficiency, simple process/equipment, and low energy consumption.1 It is a promising technology for CO2 separation in natural gas and syngas purification and flue gas recycling. Polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) are a subclass of microporous polymers with a rigid, contorted backbone structure, providing high free volume.
Permeability Enhancement Mechanism of Acidizing in Steam-Assisted Gravity Flooding Wells
3. Results and Discussion 3.1. Basic Characteristics of Low Physical Intervals Developed by SAGD Method Four cores from different wells were selected to carry out the acid sensitivity evaluation experiments. It was seen from the experimental results, shown in Table 3, that the target formation was highly acid-sensitive. Attention should be paid to the strict control of the acidity of the working fluid, and an appropriate corrosion inhibitor and acid residue inhibitor should be added.

Poststroke neutrophil count is predictive of the outcomes of large-artery atherosclerotic stroke and associated with craniocervical atherosclerosis - Scientific Reports
Abstract Elevation of the neutrophil count is detrimental to the outcome of patients with stroke. The effect of poststroke neutrophil count on the outcome of patients with large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke is unclear. This study aims to explore the relationship of poststroke neutrophil count with the functional outcome of patients with LAA stroke, and the relationship of poststroke neutrophil count and craniocervical atherosclerotic stenosis (AS) number in these patients.

Dynamic Model Selection Based on Demand Pattern Classification in Retail Sales Forecasting
3.1. Design of Forecasting Model Pool According to Figure 1, we know that the sales characteristics of different items vary greatly. Moreover, the sales characteristics of each item will also change over time. Therefore, no single forecasting method can maintain the advantage in the demand forecasting of all items. In this study, the idea of dynamic optimization is introduced into the task of forecasting. Firstly, a model pool composed of multiple prediction methods was constructed.
Spectral decomposition of wall-attached/detached eddies in compressible and incompressible turbulent channel flows
Abstract In the present study, we propose a spectral decomposition method to segregate the contributions of wall-attached/detached and self-similar/non-self-similar eddies by taking advantage of the proper orthogonal decomposition. It is applied to analyze the compressible and incompressible turbulent channel flows to verify the Reynolds number and compressibility effects on velocity fluctuations and investigate whether the temperature fluctuations share similar features.

Synthetic thick filaments: A new avenue for better understanding the myosin super-relaxed state in healthy, disease, and mavacamten-treated cardiac systems
Abstract A hallmark feature of myosin-II is that it can spontaneously self-assemble into bipolar synthetic thick filaments (STFs) in low ionic strength buffers, thereby serving as a reconstituted in-vitro model for muscle thick filament. While these STFs have been extensively used for structural characterization, their functional evaluation has been limited.
