Amarillo non-profit H.A.R.T. aims to 'transform lives' of homeless at-risk teens

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A new non-profit is starting in Amarillo with a mission to help homeless at-risk teens. According to H.A.R.T. there is a substantial number of teenagers in Amarillo who lack stable housing. Jennifer Drone, a native of Amarillo and the president and founder of H.A.R.T., has firsthand experience with homelessness in the city. She cites being in and out of homelessness since the age of 12 as her inspiration for starting the non-profit.

Texas Cockfighting Ring Bust: over 170 roosters seized in Potter County Operation

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) - Over the weekend, local authorities conducted one of the largest cockfighting ring busts in Texas, seizing over 170 roosters. "A normal cockfighting ring is between 15 and 20 birds. This one with over 170 birds is just unheard of," said Lt. Dustin Langwell with the Potter County Sheriff's Office. On Saturday night, Potter County deputies discovered approximately fifty people gathered around a pen where roosters were being forced to fight for the entertainment of the crowd.
