The third root exudation pathway: Glutamine that leaks from defects in the endodermis recruits and assembles bacteria
There is a Chinese idiom called “Deep roots grow lush leaves,” which means that root health is crucial to the above-ground growth of plants. However, root health does not exist in isolation, which is largely determined by the symbiotic relationship between the root system and the rhizosphere microorganisms.
Preliminary analysis of short-term real-world outcomes of telitacicept in high-risk IgA nephropathy
Introduction IgA nephropathy (IgAN), the most common primary glomerular disease worldwide, remains one of the leading causes of kidney failure (1–3), with higher prevalence (40–50%) and worse prognosis in Asian populations. The current risk stratification defines high-risk IgAN as sustained proteinuria (>0.75–1 g/day) despite ≥ 90 days of optimized supportive care, a key indicator for progressive kidney function loss necessitating intervention (2).

STAT1 mediates the pro-inflammatory role of GBP5 in colitis - Communications Biology
Abstract Previous studies establish guanylate binding protein 5 (GBP5) as a driver in the development of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). Here, we aim to elucidate the mechanism underlying the pro-inflammatory role of GBP5. We observe that loss of Gbp5 causes reduced colonic inflammation and decreased numbers of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in colitis mice.

Mutant KRAS-activated circATXN7 fosters tumor immunoescape by sensitizing tumor-specific T cells to activation-induced cell death - Nature Communications
Abstract Mutant KRAS (KRASMUT) is often exploited by cancers to shape tumor immunity, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Here we report that tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) from KRASMUT cancers are sensitive to activation-induced cell death (AICD). circATXN7, an NF-κB-interacting circular RNA, governs T cell sensitivity to AICD by inactivating NF-κB.
Multi-kingdom microbial signatures in excess body weight colorectal cancer based on global metagenomic analysis - Communications Biology
Abstract Excess body weight (EBW) increases the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) and is linked to lower colonoscopy compliance. Here, we extensively analyzed 981 metagenome samples from multiple cohorts to pinpoint the specific microbial signatures and their potential capability distinguishing EBW patients with CRC. The gut microbiome displayed considerable variations between EBW and lean CRC.

Frontiers | Genome-wide association studies in rice germplasm reveal significant genomic regions for root and yield-related traits under aerobic and irrigated conditions
1 Introduction In the present scenario of changing climatic conditions, water scarcity poses a major challenge to Indian agriculture, especially for rice (Oryza sativa L.), a major staple food crop. The dry-direct seeded aerobic system of rice cultivation has been identified as an alternative system to the traditional transplanted irrigated system of rice cultivation (Chauhan and Abugho, 2013; Mahender et al., 2015).
Synthetic Studies Concerned with the Proposed Structure of Ribisin F, a Compound with Nerve Growth Factor Potentiating Activity Isolated from the Medicinal Fungus Phellinus ribis
Graphical Abstract The synthesis, from quinic acid, of the enantiomer of the structure assigned to the title natural product has been accomplished but the derived spectral data do not match those reported for ribisin F. A related synthesis of its C3 epimer suggests that this may represent the true structure. Abstract The synthesis of the enantiomer of the structure assigned to the title natural product has been achieved from abundant quinic acid.
Association of mismatch repair status with survival and response to neoadjuvant chemo(radio)therapy in rectal cancer
Abstract Prior reports have indicated that defective mismatch repair (MMR) has a favorable impact on outcome in colorectal cancer patients treated with surgery, immunotherapy, or adjuvant chemotherapy. However, the impact of MMR status on response to neoadjuvant radiotherapy in rectal cancer is not well understood. Here we report that dMMR was associated with improved disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.034) in patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT).

Gut stem cell necroptosis by genome instability triggers bowel inflammation
Abstract The aetiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a multifactorial interplay between heredity and environment1,2. Here we report that deficiency in SETDB1, a histone methyltransferase that mediates the trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 9, participates in the pathogenesis of IBD. We found that levels of SETDB1 are decreased in patients with IBD, and that mice with reduced SETDB1 in intestinal stem cells developed spontaneous terminal ileitis and colitis.
