Nearly a week after a massive tree crashed through a Parchment home, neighbors are sharing more about the woman who was trapped inside and the community now rallying around her. Joan, the homeowner, was inside her home near East Glenguile Street when the tree fell, leaving her trapped underneath the wreckage for hours before emergency crews were able to safely remove her.

Fire millage proposal seeks nine-year funding boost as Texas Township nears Aug. 4 vote

With an August 4, 2026 election approaching, officials in Texas Township are encouraging residents to learn more about a proposed fire department millage that, if approved, would increase property taxes to fund fire and emergency services for the next nine years. The Texas Township Fire Department will host a public town hall meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Texas Township Fire Department.
