Disrupted daily rhythms in light exposure and wrist temperature are associated with metabolic risk markers and obesity
Abstract Light exposure is the primary external synchronizer of the body’s internal clocks and daily rhythms. This study investigated whether light exposure and wrist temperature real-life 24-h rhythms are associated with obesity and metabolic risk markers in a large cohort of healthy adults. A total of 809 individuals from the ONTIME-MT study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03036592) were included. Mean age was 37.47 ± 14.24 years, mean BMI was 25.75 kg/m², and 71% were women.
The genetic architecture of fibromyalgia across 2.5 million individuals
|
Abstract Fibromyalgia is a common and debilitating chronic pain syndrome of poorly understood etiology. Here we conduct a multi-ancestry genome-wide association study meta-analysis across 2,563,755 individuals (54,629 cases and 2,509,126 controls) from 11 cohorts, identifying 26 risk loci for fibromyalgia. The strongest association was with a coding variant in HTT, the causal gene for Huntington’s disease.

Genetic variants affect diurnal glucose levels throughout the day
Abstract Circadian rhythms not only coordinate the timing of wake and sleep but also regulate homeostasis within the body, including glucose metabolism. The genetic variants that contribute to the temporal control of glucose levels have not been previously examined.
Multi ancestry genome wide association meta analysis of urinary aMT6s levels

Abstract Melatonin regulates circadian rhythms, metabolism, and immunity. Its primary metabolite, 6-sulfatoxymelatonin (aMT6s), is a biomarker linked to cancer risk and metabolic disorders. However, genetic determinants of aMT6s remain poorly understood, with only one prior GWAS limited to an East Asian cohort.

Adventure Travel Destinations That Match Your Freak, As Endorsed By Bear Grylls
2 days ago As a travel writer, I truly believe that every state in the US is worth visiting at least once. Some states, as I've written before, deserve multiple trips. However, there are only a select few I'd consider living in full-time. As a constitutionally (and professionally) nomadic individual, it takes a …

Publisher Correction: Impact of polygenic score for BMI on weight loss effectiveness and genome-wide association analysis - International Journal of Obesity
Correction to: International Journal of Obesity https://doi.org/10.1038/s41366-024-01470-1, published online 24 January 2024 The following was given incorrectly in the ‘Abstract’ and the ‘Results’ section of the original article: (Beta (95% CI) = −0.04 kg per week (−0.06, −0.01); P = 3.7 × 10-03). The unit ‘kg per week’ was inadvertently removed during the processing of the article. The original article has been corrected. About this article Dashti, H.S., Scheer, F.A.J.L., Saxena, R. et al.
Impact of polygenic score for BMI on weight loss effectiveness and genome-wide association analysis - International Journal of Obesity
Abstract While environmental factors play an important role in weight loss effectiveness, genetics may also influence its success. We examined whether a genome-wide polygenic score for BMI was associated with weight loss effectiveness and aimed to identify common genetic variants associated with weight loss. Participants in the ONTIME study (n = 1210) followed a uniform, multimodal behavioral weight-loss intervention.

Genetic predisposition to macronutrient preference and workplace food choices - Molecular Psychiatry
Abstract Prior research identified genetic variants influencing macronutrient preference, but whether genetic differences underlying nutrient preference affect long-term food choices is unknown. Here we examined the associations of polygenic scores for carbohydrate, fat, and protein preference with 12 months’ workplace food purchases among 397 hospital employees from the ChooseWell 365 study.
CIRCUST: a novel methodology for temporal order reconstruction of molecular rhythms; validation and application towards a daily rhythm gene expression atlas in humans
New Results doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2022.12.21.519625 Abstract The circadian system drives near-24-h oscillations in behaviors and biological processes. The underlying core molecular clock regulates the expression of other genes, and it has been shown that the expression of more than 50 percent of genes in mammals displays 24-h rhythmic patterns, with the specific genes that cycle varying from one tissue to another.

New Age Skills For A Successful Career In Management
As we are progressing towards the new age, the jobs which are routine, repetitive and programmable will ultimately be taken care of by technology. The advent of new technologies like Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), demographic shifts and the impact of external shocks like the current pandemic are radically transforming the way organisations conduct business and the type of skills their talent needs to help them thrive in this new age of work.
