GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) - A four-week-old kitten abandoned and forgotten found itself trapped in a car engine with hope and time running out. But thanks to some good Samaritans this kitten now has a second chance at life. “I thought oh my god I think there’s a kitten trapped in the engine.” Kiplin Charles works for Gastonia Nissan, and during his rounds came across something he wasn’t expecting. “I got down on my hands and knees and started calling the kitten you know.” Charles told WBTV’s Ron Lee.

The National Retail Federation forecasts 187 million people will shop at brick-and-mortar stores or online between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The projection falls short of the near-record numbers posted in 2024.

Charlotte Rescue Mission serves hundreds for Thanksgiving

(WBTV) - The Charlotte Rescue Mission served around 150 people Thursday morning and expects to feed approximately 800 people when it opens its doors to the broader community for Thanksgiving. Dozens of volunteers worked to clean, prep, cook and serve traditional Thanksgiving meals with turkey, potatoes and other holiday staples. The shelter primarily serves people experiencing homelessness in Charlotte, but anyone needing help can receive a warm meal.
